There are two types of emergency earthquake alerts: "warnings" for general use and "forecasts" for advanced users. The general "warning" is issued when a maximum seismic intensity of 5- is predicted and observed by two or more seismic stations, targeting areas with a predicted intensity of 4 or higher. This is mainly distributed through television, radio, and mobile devices. In contrast, the advanced "forecast" is issued when the amplitude of P-waves or S-waves exceeds 100 gal at any seismic observation point, and the magnitude is 3.5 or higher, or the maximum predicted intensity is 3 or higher.
