The leveling work is unnecessary due to the auto-calibration feature, and the real-time fully automatic registration function allows for point cloud synthesis without the need for targets. With a scanning speed of 500,000 points per second, it achieves high precision, and it uses a lightweight carbon GITZO tripod. The Trimble X7 can scan objects with low reflectivity that traditional laser scanners could not. By selecting a high-sensitivity mode, it changes the wavelength (frequency) of the emitted laser, enabling reliable scanning of asphalt and dark-colored objects.

Building on the already successful ground-based laser scanner "Trimble X7," which has a strong track record in surveying, construction, and architecture worldwide, the Trimble X9 retains the high-precision automatic leveling, automatic stitching, and calibration features of the Trimble X7 while achieving functional improvements. Additionally, the design of the center unit has been revamped. Signal processing necessary for improving scan quality has been enhanced, allowing for reliable and fast scanning of low-reflectivity objects and glossy surfaces such as stainless steel.
