What kind of screws are prone to seizing? Part 2

I will introduce easily seizing fasteners in a blog format!

Let's take a look at what types of fastenings are prone to seizing. When the pitch of the screw is small, the pitch of fine-thread screws is, of course, smaller than that of coarse-thread screws. As the pitch decreases, the friction coefficient increases, making it more susceptible to heat, which in turn makes it more likely to seize. When the tightening speed is fast, electric tools with high rotation speeds generate friction heat more easily compared to manual tools, making them more prone to seizing. *You can view the detailed content of the blog through the related links. Why do stainless steel screws tend to seize up easily?

I will introduce thermal conductivity and thermal expansion rate in a blog format!

The phenomenon where screws expand due to the frictional heat generated when tightening or loosening them, causing the male and female threads to seize and become immovable, is called "seizing." Seizing is also referred to as "galling," and stainless steel, in particular, has a tendency to seize easily due to its inherent properties. The causes of this are attributed to its low thermal conductivity and high thermal expansion rate. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. How do you use martensitic stainless steel?

Introducing treatments for martensitic stainless steel that do not reduce corrosion resistance!

13-chromium martensitic stainless steel has a lower chromium content than ferritic types, which reduces its corrosion resistance; however, one of its characteristics is that it can be hardened through quenching, or heat treatment. So, what types of screws need to be hardened when using stainless steel? A representative example is drill screws. Drill screws need to be hardened because they require a drill at the tip to create a pilot hole. *For more details, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for more information.*

When the digits increase, the numbers become hard to understand!

Strengthening Book of Screws (Vol. 46)! Introducing the meaning of each number in the strength classification using "10.9" as an example in a blog format.

The strength classification of steel external threads is based on the combination of two elements represented by numbers. Let's take "10.9" as an example to examine the meaning of each number. The first "10" indicates the tensile strength, which in this case is 1,000 MPa (megapascals) or 1,000 N/mm² (newtons per square millimeter) of tensile strength. Tensile strength, as discussed in the screw reinforcement document Vol. 44, refers to the maximum stress that a bolt or screw can withstand when a tensile load is applied along its axis until it fractures. This value is expressed by dividing the load at fracture by the cross-sectional area of the bolt. So, what does a stress of 1,000 MPa or 1,000 N/mm² mean? It means that a stress of 1,000 MPa (since 1M is one million, 1,000 MPa is one billion pascals) can be applied to an area of 1 m² without causing fracture, or that a stress of 1,000 N can be applied to an area of 1 mm² without causing fracture. *For more detailed content, please refer to the related links. [Technical Column] The Risks of Foreign Matter Contamination in Food Manufacturing Lines and Their Countermeasures

Screws falling off the manufacturing line! Unnecessary costs incurred due to measures against loosening.

One of the problems troubling the manufacturing site is the falling off of screws used on the production line. Measures taken on-site to prevent loosening can lead to unnecessary costs, which is a significant burden. In other words, the required measures should not only prevent screws from falling off but also ensure that subsequent maintenance is easy, which is also an important factor. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related link. [Technical Column] The Strengths and Weaknesses of "Plastic Screws" as the Key to Weight Reduction

There are many types of resins, each with its own strengths and characteristics! Here are four perspectives to share.

Recently, the issue of "lightweighting products" has become important across various industries. Screws are relatively small components in each product, but by adopting "plastic screws," also known as resin screws, further weight reduction can be achieved. However, there are many types of resins, each with different strengths and characteristics. In this column, we will introduce recommended types of resins used for plastic screws from four perspectives: strength, heat resistance, chemical resistance, and cost. *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links. For more information, feel free to contact us.*

[Technical Column] Unable to Distinguish the Pitch of Stainless Steel Screws

The coloring technology of stainless steel called "oxidation coloring"! Explanation of its mechanism, features, and applications.

Distinguishing between the pitch of screws (coarse and fine) can sometimes go unnoticed when there is little time to pay attention during on-site work, even if they are mixed together. As a countermeasure in such cases, many people take steps to make them easier to distinguish by using head coatings or plating, but the available surface treatments are limited. Therefore, our company has focused on a technology called "oxidation coloring," which is a coloring technique for stainless steel materials. In this column, we will explain the mechanism, features, and applications of oxidation coloring. *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links. Side deflector ball screw "AD/AH series"

The lubrication unit is always in contact with the threaded groove! It contributes to miniaturization of the device and expansion of space within the device.

The "AD/AH Series" adopts a new circulation method (side deflector), achieving ideal ball lifting and circulation structure, contributing to the compactness, speed, and quietness of the nut. In response to recent automation and high-tact needs, we have significantly improved the maximum rotational speed and DN value by enhancing high-performance motors. Compared to ball screws with tube circulation, we have reduced sound pressure by 6dB, improving high-frequency noise and sound quality, providing a pleasant sound quality. 【Features】 ■ Nut dimensions comply with DIN standards, pursuing ease of use ■ Achieves industry-leading performance ■ Compact design for nut outer diameter and flange section ■ Standard equipped with lubrication unit "Lub Seal" ■ Realizes long-term maintenance-free operation *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Loosening prevention function screw 'fix-F4(+) pan screw/WH'

No screw lock / no assembly! It won't peel off like a loosening prevention even after repeated use.

The "fix-F4(+) Nabebisu/WH" is a screw with a loosening prevention function that achieves weight reduction by eliminating the need for flat washers and spring washers. By removing the resistance type loosening prevention that uses nylon or silicone-based resin, which is more expensive than screws, cost reduction with screws becomes possible. Additionally, it prevents the tilting of screws caused by spring washers and the overlapping of flat washers, which can lead to stoppages in automated lines. 【Features】 ■ Significant cost reduction ■ Reusable ■ Achieves weight reduction by eliminating the need for flat washers and spring washers ■ No need for incomplete screw parts due to the thickness of the assembly ■ Prevents stoppages in automated lines *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
