【Case Study】Labor-saving for Opening and Closing Low-Pressure Manual Valves in Ethylene Production Line

By utilizing UH, it is possible to reduce labor and shorten time! Here are examples of Unihandler deliveries.

We would like to introduce a case study of the valve actuator "Uni-Handler" that our company handles. At a certain factory in the Kyushu region, there were many low-pressure manual valves (300A), which required considerable effort and time to operate. Although we competed with Bestork, the proximity of the valve positions allowed for the operation of 9 valves with a single drive unit, leading to the decision to adopt the UH operating method. In the modified mechanism, since the floor positions were different, we installed two drive units for each floor, allowing for the operation of 1 unit per 9 valves. As a result, by utilizing the UH, we achieved labor savings and time reduction, and discussions for implementation in similar facilities within the same factory have begun. We would like to introduce a case study of the valve actuator "Uni-Handler" that we handle. At a certain power and geothermal power plant, the opening and closing of the steam well valve (manual type) was extremely difficult due to scale buildup inside the piping, and while it was performed during regular maintenance, it required significant labor. By introducing the "Uni-Handler" in the modified mechanism, we were able to reduce the opening and closing time and achieve a reduction in labor. Additionally, the conventional drive body, flexible shaft, and attachments were transported separately, but by newly fabricating a transport cart for the equipment, simultaneous transportation of the necessary equipment became possible, improving work efficiency. We would like to introduce a case study of the valve actuator "Uni-Handler" that we handle. At a certain power generation plant, valves with high opening and closing frequency were automated to reduce labor, but valves with low frequency were still manual, requiring a lot of effort and time for their operation. In the modified mechanism, by connecting an attachment and a flexible shaft to the target valve, remote operation (at a safe point) became possible, significantly reducing both effort and time. At a certain factory in the Chubu region, despite being a high-pressure valve, it was manual, requiring considerable effort and time for opening and closing the valve. Additionally, the valve's location was not suitable for operation, resulting in a poor working environment. Therefore, in the modified mechanism, since each valve position was nearby, a single drive unit could be used, leading to cost merits, and the UH method was chosen.
