Finding suitable thermal spraying from your concerns: corrosion resistance and rust prevention.

Imparting corrosion resistance that cannot be prevented by the properties of the base material! An introduction to "corrosion" and "rust prevention."

Corrosion has various atmospheres, and there are different types such as acid corrosion and electrochemical corrosion. When there are corrosion atmospheres that cannot be completely prevented by the characteristics of the base material alone, or when the material is too expensive to use as a base even if it has resistant properties, surface modification through thermal spraying is very useful. Additionally, rust prevention has been promptly introduced in our company since the establishment of the thermal spraying division, responding to such needs. Currently, we have gained high trust in terms of achievements and management, and we are conducting thermal spraying work throughout Japan. [Types of Corrosion] ■ Uniform Corrosion ■ Localized Corrosion (Electrochemical Corrosion, Crevice Corrosion, Pitting Corrosion, Intergranular Corrosion, Erosive Corrosion) *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Find suitable thermal spraying based on your concerns: wear resistance.

To prevent wear, which is a typical cause of mechanical component failure! Wear comes in various forms.

Wear has various types and causes. To impart wear resistance through thermal spraying, it is necessary to consider the characteristics of such wear. Wear resistance through thermal spraying is a very effective method for surface treatment of high-load bearing parts, where conventional surface modification techniques have been insufficient. 【Types of Wear】 ■ Wear that occurs when two metals come into contact, causing the softer metal to be torn and move to the harder one, repeatedly falling off as wear particles. ■ Wear caused by foreign substances interposed on the wear surface, which scrape away the surface. ■ Wear that occurs when one side of the friction surface has a significantly higher hardness than the other, leading to hard surface protrusions scratching the opposing friction surface. ■ Wear that occurs due to fatigue from vertical loads or repeated friction between two solid surfaces against the tiny irregularities on the surface of the thermal spray coating, resulting in damage or delamination of the coating. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Our company offers surface modification tailored to the operating conditions of manufacturing sites, such as for corrosive environments, wear environments, and heat resistance purposes. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us. 【Features】 ■ Capable of spraying a variety of materials (metals, cermets, ceramics, etc.) ■ Capable of spraying diverse materials (metals, ceramics, carbon materials, etc.) ■ Applicable to both large and small products, with few dimensional shape constraints ■ Low heat input to the product during spraying (approximately below 200°C) ■ Faster film formation speed compared to plating and vapor deposition *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Thermal spraying for circulating fluidized bed biomass boilers

Welding of high chromium cast iron is performed for protection! Smoothing thermal spraying is carried out to eliminate the step between the weld and the furnace wall!

Osaka Fuji Industries is involved in the power generation sector (boilers) of the paper manufacturing industry. We would like to introduce a case study on "thermal spraying for fine coal-fired boilers." Severe wear occurred due to solid fuel particles and limestone used for desulfurization inside the furnace. Particularly, intense abrasion was a problem in areas with steps and at the corners of the furnace. To address this, we performed welding with high chromium cast iron in specific areas of the corners for protection. We also conducted smoothing thermal spraying to eliminate the step between the weld and the furnace wall. 【Case Overview】 ■ Project Example: Circulating Fluidized Bed Biomass Boiler ■ Application Area: Boiler furnace wall ■ Required Performance: High-temperature wear resistance, corrosion resistance to corrosive products ■ Fuel: Biomass fuel, wood chips, waste plastics, etc. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Thermal spraying method "Arc spraying"

It has excellent adhesion to the substrate because it is melted at high temperatures.

Thermal Spraying Method "Arc Spraying" is a process that generates an arc discharge between two metal wires, melting the wires with the discharge energy, and spraying atomized materials onto the substrate using compressed air to form a coating. The thermal spray materials are limited to those with excellent electrical conductivity, but they have superior adhesion to the substrate due to being melted at high temperatures. 【Features】 ○ Can perform thermal spraying on a wide range of substrates, allowing for a broad selection of thermal spray materials ○ Does not affect the heat of the substrate ○ No dimensional restrictions on the substrate ○ Processing is possible only in the required areas ○ On-site construction is possible For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

[Spraying Case] Wear Resistance

There are various types of wear, including abrasive wear and adhesive wear.

Thermal spraying is a surface modification technology that uses various heat sources to melt and spray materials such as metals, ceramics, and cermets onto a substrate surface to form functional coatings. There are various types of wear, including "abrasive wear," where the surface is worn away; "adhesive wear," which occurs when two identical materials rub against each other, causing molecular bonding and shear, resulting in wear particles that detach; "fatigue wear," which arises from repeated application of load and friction; and "corrosive wear," which occurs in steel when oxygen adheres to the surface, triggering oxidation reactions that produce rust, leading to wear. [Types] ○ Abrasive wear ○ Adhesive wear ○ Fatigue wear ○ Corrosive wear For more details, please contact us.

[Spraying Example] Electrical Insulation Properties

By applying ceramic thermal spraying to metal materials, electrical insulation properties are added.

Thermal spraying is a surface modification technique that involves melting and spraying materials such as metals, ceramics, and cermets using various heat sources to form functional coatings on the substrate surface. By applying ceramic thermal spray to metal materials, electrical insulation properties can be added. Alumina is the most commonly used ceramic for achieving electrical insulation. As the thickness of the thermal spray coating increases, the breakdown voltage for insulation rises. However, if the coating is too thick, there is a risk of delamination, so care must be taken regarding the relationship with the substrate material. 【Breakdown Voltage Values of Ceramic Thermal Spray Coatings】 [Components of Thermal Spray Coatings: In Air / In Insulating Oil] ○ Alumina (Al2O3): 6.00V / 7.45V ○ Gray Alumina (Al2O3/3TiO2): 3.80V / 4.42V ○ Chromia (Cr2O3): 0.12V / 0.12V For more details, please contact us.

[Spraying Case] Far Infrared Effect

The effects of far infrared radiation are influenced not only by the type of ceramic but also by the thickness of the thermal spray coating and the porosity.

Thermal spraying is a surface modification technology that uses various heat sources to melt and spray materials such as metals, ceramics, and cermets onto the surface of a substrate to form functional coatings. Ceramics have a high emissivity in the far infrared range, allowing them to efficiently radiate energy, and this characteristic is utilized in thermal spray coatings. Since the emissivity varies depending on the type of ceramic, selecting the appropriate ceramic thermal spray coating is crucial. The radiant heat of far infrared is something very familiar, as it is used in many heating and cooking appliances. Thermal spray coatings are also employed in these applications. The effectiveness of far infrared radiation is influenced not only by the type of ceramic but also by the thickness and porosity of the thermal spray coating, so please consult us about the thermal spray specifications for each project. [Features] ○ Far infrared refers to light with a wavelength of approximately 25 to 100 microns, which is the longer wavelength range of infrared radiation. ○ By thermally spraying far infrared ceramics onto the surface of conventional heaters, the heater's characteristics are improved. ○ The main purpose is to increase the drying time and drying efficiency of heaters. ○ Widely adopted in oil heaters, aluminum flat heaters, hot plates, and many others. For more details, please contact us.
