[Coating Example] Surface of Stainless Steel Plate Used in Printing Machines

The adhesion of the resin has been reduced, and a decrease in defect rates is expected! Here we present examples where the appearance has improved compared to existing products.

The company that manufactures and sells stainless steel is facing issues with printing defects caused by foreign substances sticking to card-type resin products during printing. They also seem to be struggling with appearance quality, delivery times, and work-in-progress. We proposed a "TiN coating" after confirming each situation. By applying a TiN film coating that improves resin release properties (releaseability) to the surface of the stainless steel plates used in printing machines, we can reduce the sticking of resin and expect a decrease in the defect rate. [Case Study] ■ Company: Stainless steel manufacturing and sales ■ Issues: Reducing defect rates, appearance quality, delivery times, and work-in-progress ■ Improvement Proposal - TiN film coating to enhance resin release properties on the surface of stainless steel plates - Conducted cleaning tests considering various types of dirt, including water-soluble and insoluble contaminants - For wiping streaks, ion bombardment treatment was performed in a vacuum device - Due to the large equipment, productivity is high, and TiN film coating can be done for small lots in about two weeks, allowing for management without work-in-progress *Details of the case study can be viewed through the related links. Features of Titanium Nitride Coating

A membrane type that can also respond to safety and health laws and FDA regulations! It is used for purposes such as improved wear resistance and enhanced corrosion resistance.

"TiN coating" is one of the most common types of films in PVD coating, and since it uses titanium as the raw material, it can comply with safety and health regulations as well as FDA regulations. It is used in various applications and is often relatively inexpensive and available on short notice compared to many other PVD coatings, making it a representative film type that serves as a starting point for functional enhancement through PVD coating. Other representative film types include CrN film (chromium nitride film), TiAlN film (titanium aluminum nitride film), and DLC film (diamond-like carbon film). 【Features】 ■ Can comply with safety and health regulations and FDA (Food and Drug Administration) regulations ■ Used for purposes such as improving wear resistance and corrosion resistance ■ Often relatively inexpensive and available on short notice ■ A representative film type that serves as a starting point for functional enhancement through PVD coating *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Applications of titanium nitride coating

A versatile and quality-stable coating among PVD coatings! It can extend the lifespan of molds several times and reduce costs.

This is an introduction to the applications of the golden-colored coating "Titanium Nitride Coating," which is often seen on cutting tools. Due to its long blade life and corrosion resistance, it is used in cutting tools. Its increased surface hardness makes it suitable for areas and materials that are prone to wear, and it is also used for decorative purposes because its reflective color is golden. Additionally, TiN meets FDA guidelines and is non-toxic, making it suitable for dental implants, artificial joints, surgical scalpels, and bone saws. It strongly captures oxygen molecules, preventing the oxidation of electrodes. 【Features】 - Used in cutting tools due to its long blade life and corrosion resistance. - Used in areas and materials that are prone to wear due to increased surface hardness. - Used for decorative purposes because its reflective color is golden. - TiN is non-toxic and meets FDA guidelines. - Prevents the oxidation of electrodes by strongly capturing oxygen molecules. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

[Coating Example] TiN Film Coating on Silicon Wafer Substrate

We would like to introduce a case that can withstand Al sputtering and anodization, and meets the specifications.

We received an inquiry from Tokyo Metropolitan University in Hachioji City regarding their desire to sputter aluminum onto silicon wafer substrates and perform anodic oxidation treatment. They are struggling because the adhesion and characteristics do not meet the required standards. They would like to confirm what changes occur by depositing a TiN film as the initial layer, but since this is a prototype-only project, other companies have declined, and they are having difficulty finding a company that can perform the deposition. It was mentioned that research on thin film electrode layers is being conducted at the university. In cases where a TiN film coating is applied to silicon wafer substrates, there are often instances where it peels off during tape tests, indicating a significant problem with adhesion. Therefore, we proposed performing a binder coat on the initial layer film to improve adhesion before applying the TiN film treatment. *For more details about the case, please refer to the related links. [Coating Example] Improvement of Mold Release Properties (Resin Release)

The reason for the short lifespan during use is at the substrate preparation stage! There are cases where the lifespan has increased by about 1.5 times compared to conventional films.

We received an inquiry from a company engaged in resin molding for containers, asking if there is a film that has good resin release properties and is moderately hard. The film currently in use has release properties, but it contains hard pearlescent materials, which aggressively attack the substrate, causing the film to fail, leading to difficulties. To ensure the strength of the containers, it seems that some products have pearlescent materials mixed into them, but this also causes significant damage to the equipment, increasing the need for surface coating. When the resin release properties deteriorate, defects occur, so we prioritized coating for resin release properties over hardness. However, we proposed TiN coating treatment as it is expected to possess both functions and resolve the customer's concerns. *For detailed case information, please refer to the related links. [Coating Example] TiN Film Coating on Injection Molded Parts

Prototyping two patterns! A case study introducing the selection of a membrane type with high cost-effectiveness by comparing durability and productivity.

We received an inquiry from a company in Tochigi Prefecture that specializes in resin molding, asking, "Could we request a comparison of titanium nitride coating and titanium aluminum nitride coating?" They mentioned that among the resin materials they currently handle, there are some that contain fillers such as glass fibers, which are very hard and cause wear on the internal parts during molding, leading to difficulties. When performing resin molding, it is common to use materials known as polypropylene or polycarbonate, but by mixing in glass fibers, the resin becomes even harder. Therefore, when hardness is required for the product, materials with fillers are used. *For more detailed information about the case, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for further inquiries.*
