The new HIGHmotion 2D laser processing head features various optical variations compatible with an 8 kW laser output and is optimized for high-quality welding. It utilizes its wide processing area to enable fast and precise welding. A new low-magnification model has been added to the lineup, allowing for deep penetration in copper welding, which is in high demand in fields such as electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing. Additionally, by incorporating the unique image recognition system HIGHvision, it can achieve ultra-high precision alignment in milliseconds by comparing the workpiece's image data with the positions and patterns programmed in the software. This functionality is ideal for a wide range of welding applications, including motor stator hairpins, battery sealing, tabs, and busbars. Development continues, including future AI-assisted algorithms.

The rapid growth of electric vehicle battery manufacturing has led to an increased demand for next-generation laser processing systems that can accelerate manufacturing throughput and maintain competitive cost of ownership while achieving the highest quality welding for batteries. The PH20 SmartWeld+ is available with a maximum output of 6 kW, allowing for precise control of penetration depth even for long weld seams as seen in individual battery cells. The PH20 SmartWeld+ can be used with a single-mode fiber laser of up to 2.5 kW and an adjustable ring mode laser light source. It can be combined with lasers such as the HighLight FL CSM ARM, HighLight FL SM, and PowerLine FL 1000/1500.
