Heater utilizing far infrared rays

Since it does not use unnecessary energy, it has energy-saving effects! The heating rate increases, making it more efficient.

This time, we would like to introduce heaters that utilize "far infrared rays," which are a type of "infrared" with longer wavelengths. Objects emit energy in the form of electromagnetic waves (light) according to their temperature. The higher the object's temperature, the greater the total amount of electromagnetic waves emitted, but the peak wavelength of the emitted waves becomes shorter. Electromagnetic waves in the far infrared range (3μm to 25μm) are generally said to be easily absorbed by materials, allowing for efficient heating of objects. Therefore, we have developed a paint (far infrared paint) that emits a large amount of electromagnetic waves in the far infrared range by applying our ceramic raw material formulation technology. Transparent materials like glass tend to allow electromagnetic waves to pass through easily, which means that heat from the heating element does not sufficiently transfer to the object being heated. As a result, if a lot of heater power is applied, electricity costs can increase. To address this, we can apply wavelength conversion paint to convert the waves to wavelengths that glass absorbs easily, allowing for efficient heat transfer to the object being heated without passing through. Effects of applying far infrared paint: - The load on the heater decreases, allowing for longer usage. - It has energy-saving effects since unnecessary energy is not used. - The heating speed increases, improving efficiency.

[Testing Examples] 1. Glass Fiber Organic Residue Test In the production of glass fibers, it is essential to burn off the organic materials in a drying oven. However, there was interest in whether it could be effectively burned off using our hot air generation equipment. After several discussions, an opportunity arose for a company visit, during which we operated the equipment as part of a factory tour and conducted a simple pattern test. If you contact us in advance, it is possible to check the availability of the equipment and conduct a simple test. 2. Surface Temperature Comparison Test Under High-Temperature Atmosphere In the equipment used by the customer, there is a risk of electric leakage when the surface temperature of the heater becomes high. Therefore, the specifications were changed to enhance the heat dissipation effect, and both old and new heaters were tested under the same conditions to measure and compare their surface temperatures. The results showed that by enhancing the heat dissipation effect, there was a tendency for the surface temperature of the heater to decrease. This time, due to temperature differences depending on the measurement method, it is necessary to consider new challenges regarding measurement methods in relation to actual furnace measurements, and we are currently working on this.

Which is better, far infrared heaters or near infrared heaters? I have delved a little into the differences between them.

In the near-infrared range, the energy conversion efficiency from electricity is about 90%, which is quite high; however, the heat absorption rate by the human body is low. When considering the same amount of electrical energy, the heating efficiency of far-infrared heaters and near-infrared heaters ultimately turns out to be about the same. However, near-infrared heaters tend to be smaller in capacity due to issues with glare and concerns about inrush current. Given this characteristic and their very fast startup time, we recommend considering them for localized heating in particularly limited spaces, such as in restrooms. In contrast, far-infrared heaters can be used more generally for localized heating due to their superior heating effectiveness compared to near-infrared heaters.
