KHK standard racks have an R-shaped finish on the tooth tips for safety and to prevent scratches and dents. This R-shaped profile is patented by KHK and is applied to all products except for BSR and PR racks due to its noise-reducing effect. The "KRF hardened rack" is made from SCM440 material that has been hardened to enhance gear strength.
