[AM Utilization Case] Component Development: Phase 03
Introducing examples of verifying manufacturing flows for production and responding to scaling up!
As part of the utilization of AM for precision roll components, we would like to introduce Phase 3 of our efforts aimed at weight reduction and improving cooling efficiency. Challenging the scaling up based on the best conditions obtained from the verification results of Phases 1 and 2, we were able to manufacture a precision roll that is both strong in rigidity and lightweight by incorporating an internal structure. Additionally, there was no impact from thermal distortion during the shaping process, and by tuning the shrinkage rate, it is possible to manufacture parts with a size of less than 1/10 mm. There were also no issues with bead depth or significant internal defects. [Case Overview] - By incorporating an internal structure, we were able to manufacture a precision roll that is strong in rigidity and lightweight. - There was no impact from thermal distortion during the shaping process, and by tuning the shrinkage rate, it is possible to manufacture parts with a size of less than 1/10 mm. - No issues with bead depth or significant internal defects. - Further tuning is needed to increase the size in the radial direction. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
