We would like to introduce a case study of the logistics system implemented at Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ion Technology Co., Ltd. The conventional production system relied on manual labor, and automation was difficult in some processes. To improve production efficiency, we focused on the parts supply process. We introduced the "Rotary Rack H" with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of inbound and outbound operations for approximately 15,000 types of parts. After implementation, the storage area for parts was reduced to half compared to the conventional flat shelf storage. With the operation of GTP (Goods To Person) supplying parts to the workers, the picking time was shortened from 3 minutes per item to 1 minute.
