October 2020 Issue Interface AI Chip Encyclopedia & Performance Research

Basic Knowledge and Experimental Research on AI Chips/AI Sticks/AI Boards This article summarizes the basic knowledge and experimental research on notable AI chips, AI sticks that can be retrofitted with these chips, and AI boards that incorporate them into development boards. For AI sticks, we introduce the classic Intel Neural Compute Stick 2 (Movidus Myriad X VPU) and Google Coral USB Accelerator (Edge TPU), along with an experimental article featuring the Orange Pi AI Stick Lite, which is sold at an astonishing price using the Zhilifalcon Light Speeur SPR2801S. For AI boards, we cover the basic usage and performance research using the latest GPU board, Jetson Xavier NX, and conduct comparative verification against Raspberry Pi 4 and Google Edge TPU boards. We also explore the potential of the Kendryte K210, which has an AI chip built into RISC-V and is generating a lot of buzz. If you are interested in trying this out in a real business setting or have already tried it and are facing challenges, please feel free to consult with Bee.

April 2019 Issue Interface: Maps and IoT

We are showcasing IoT use cases that integrate maps with the popular prototyping device M5Stack, which is based on the ESP32 microcontroller that supports WiFi and Bluetooth and costs 700 yen. We are conducting experimental research on a monitoring device using Ambient while wearing the M5Stack like a smartwatch, accessing Free WiFi available in the city, and displaying maps using GPS information. If you are someone who wants to try this in actual business or are already testing it and facing challenges, please feel free to consult with Bee.

April 2020 Issue Interface Micro IoT Camera

As high-performance microcontrollers become more affordable, the ESP32, which features both Bluetooth and WiFi at just 700 yen, has gained popularity. We introduce implementation examples using the popular ESP32 combined with a camera (OV2640) to create network cameras like the TTGO T-Camera and M5Camera at a budget-friendly price of just under 2000 yen. We cover everything from monitoring notifications using a human detection sensor (AS312) and Slack to know-how for handling camera modules with the ESP32. We also provide basic knowledge about setting up servers with microcontrollers and HTTP. If you are interested in trying this out in a real business or if you have already tried it and are facing challenges, please feel free to consult with Bee.

Bee Mitani's writing for the November 2020 issue of Interface.

November 2020 Issue Interface Image Processing Program 100

We are publishing a collection of image processing programs that run on the M5Stack, which is equipped with an ESP32 microcontroller that has built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, and features such as an LCD, battery, and microSD, all while being low-cost and low-power. Although the ESP32 is low-cost, it also has limited memory, which prevents the use of the standard image processing library OpenCV. Therefore, we are creating C++ programs that run on the ESP32, introducing various image processing algorithms. Image processing has become an essential technology for tasks such as enlarging, rotating, changing color tones and brightness, edge detection, and template matching. The image processing techniques included are: - Grayscale and binarization - Enlargement and reduction using nearest neighbor and bilinear methods - Image composition using alpha blending - Translation, rotation, and skewing using matrix operations - Frequency filtering using DFT If you are interested in trying this out in an actual business setting or if you have encountered challenges while already experimenting, please feel free to consult with Bee.

April 2018 Issue Interface: The Mechanism of AI Speakers

This article explains the mechanism of the trending AI speakers and introduces methods to create your own Alexa using the classic Raspberry Pi, as well as how to create your own Google Assistant. Additionally, while Alexa and Google Assistant are designed to connect to the cloud, we also conduct experiments on local smart speakers using the local speech recognition system Julius, which does not require a cloud connection. If you are struggling with speech recognition, want to try it out, or are considering applications, we are here to help those who want to test it in real business scenarios or those who have already tried it and are facing challenges. Please feel free to consult with Bee.

Writing

We will focus on the anticipated PL law descriptions and the achievement of customer satisfaction (CS) in each scenario, and we will engage in writing based on user behavior predictions.

Unlike cases where only writing is undertaken, on the one hand, I am involved in creating technical illustrations, which means that the writing process includes considering multiple elements such as operational procedures, explanations of illustrations at that time, and understanding of product structure. Therefore, I can provide accurate insights from the perspective of actual users.
