[Consultation Case for Metal 3D Printing] Drone Propeller Production

Scan ready-made products and obtain data! Process and modify it into data that can be 3D printed.

We would like to introduce a case study from the System Design Laboratory at Osaka Institute of Technology. The issue was that, in order to conduct a heat resistance comparison experiment with an existing carbon propeller, an aluminum drone propeller of the same shape was needed. By utilizing a 3D scanner to scan the existing product, we obtained data and processed and modified it into a format suitable for 3D printing. As a result, we were able to conduct heat resistance flight experiments in high-temperature environments. [Case Overview (Partial)] ■ Issue - An aluminum drone propeller of the same shape is needed to conduct a heat resistance comparison experiment with the existing carbon propeller. ■ Requests - We want to have it ready for trial runs before the experiment. - Since we cannot obtain dimensional information or drawings of the existing product, we want to create it from the actual item. - We would like to use the final 3D data for analysis after the experiment. *For more detailed information about the case, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for more details.

[Column] About SLM (Selective Laser Melting) Method

Introducing the molding method adopted by ZRapid, for which our company serves as the general agent!

Introducing SLM, which uses a laser as the heat source in the powder bed method, a mainstream technology in metal 3D printing. The powder bed fusion (PBF) method involves irradiating a layer of metal powder with a beam of light, causing it to sinter through the heat generated. By repeatedly melting and solidifying layer by layer, it creates a three-dimensional structure. While there are various fabrication methods, this one has a long history and is widely used. The powder bed method is divided into "Selective Laser Melting (SLM)" and "Electron Beam Melting (EBM)" based on the type of heat source used. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for further inquiries.*

[Column] The Flow of 3D Modeling and the Modeling Process

The quality of the laser is important among the equipment that makes up a 3D printer!

This time, we will introduce the "modeling" process within the flow of 3D printing. Once the 3D data design and the preparation of materials and equipment are complete, the modeling can finally begin. We will also introduce the final confirmation work before operation. We check the sliced data read by the 3D printer and determine the layout of the products to be modeled on the substrate. By arranging them efficiently, many products can be modeled at once. Once this task is completed, the final modeling time will be confirmed. *For more details on the column, please refer to the related links. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

[Column] The Process of 3D Modeling and Post-Processing Steps

Heat treatment to remove internal stress and the process of separating the product from the substrate!

This time, we will introduce the "post-processing" step in the flow of 3D modeling. After the modeling is complete, excess metal powder is removed, and the model is separated from the substrate. As a finishing touch, a blast treatment is applied. (For some models, heat treatment is performed before separating from the substrate.) Excess metal powder on the substrate is collected using the attached suction nozzle. The collected metal powder is sent to the powder module for reuse. *For more details on the column, please refer to the related links. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

[Column] "KAIJIRUSHI" 115th Anniversary Design Exhibition

The main exhibit is products! We will also introduce metal 3D printed razors.

A hands-on product design exhibition held to commemorate the 115th anniversary of the global knife manufacturer "KAI Corporation." Products envisioned for the future based on "KAI's" new mission of "sharpness and gentleness," as well as new products with fresh perspectives that are set to be released, are on display. I heard that products we collaborated on through DOHO's modeling services would also be exhibited, so I visited the exhibition to experience it firsthand. *For more details on the column, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Introduction of Exhibits for JIMTOF2024 - Part 3

Introduction to JIMTOF2024 Exhibits - Part 3: Case Studies of Metal 3D Printer Implementation

Thank you for your continued support. This is DOHO Corporation. We will be exhibiting at "JIMTOF2024," which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight from November 5 (Tuesday) to November 10 (Sunday)! Today, as part of our third announcement, we would like to introduce a section showcasing case studies of metal 3D printer implementations. We will highlight the case of "Wada Precision Dental Laboratory Co., Ltd.," known as one of Japan's largest dental laboratories and a pioneer in the dental technology industry! [Main Exhibition Content] - The process leading up to the introduction of metal 3D printers The first model was introduced using a 3D printer from another manufacturer, and last year, it was switched to the ZRapid 3D printer that we handle. This year, an additional unit was introduced, and medical device registration has also been completed. Why did we switch to the ZRapid 3D printer that we handle? We will share real customer feedback! - Display of dental technology samples You will be able to see samples that Wada Precision Dental Laboratory has actually produced.
