The loads applied to a spring can be broadly divided into two types: static loads and dynamic loads.

For dynamic load, it is natural that there is no settling, and the evaluation is based on how many cycles the spring can endure before fatigue failure occurs. By the way, enduring 10 million cycles is considered equivalent to having a semi-permanent durability. The "fatigue" of metals refers to the progression of micro-cracks due to repeated loading. Typically, it does not involve plastic deformation, making it a very troublesome phenomenon that can lead to sudden failure without any prior signs of settling or deformation. Counting the number of turns in a spring

Care is needed in counting the number of turns of a spring.

I will count the number of coils in the photo of the compression spring. The number of lines = the number of circles = 5, therefore the number of coils = 5, but it is important to note that this is not the case.
