In this column, we will discuss the water drainage issues related to the evaporator of car air conditioners and their solutions. The evaporator draws in warm, humid air and cools and dehumidifies it by utilizing the latent heat of evaporation of the refrigerant, which naturally leads to the generation of condensate. When the air conditioner is turned off, not all of the water is discharged; it remains in the evaporator, with an approximate volume of 500cc. When the air conditioner is turned on again and airflow begins, this water is suddenly expelled, causing the phenomenon of water spraying from the air conditioner's outlet.
