The DE0-CV is an evaluation, development, and educational introductory board equipped with Altera's FPGA Cyclone V E. The older generation Cyclone III and Cyclone II boards, such as the DE0, DE1, and DE2, which were released in 2009, are no longer supported by the latest Quartus II development tools. For new introductions, we recommend the DE0-CV, DE1-SoC, and DE0-Nano-SoC. The DE0-CV is equipped with Altera's FPGA Cyclone V E 5CEBA4F23C7N, allowing development with the latest Quartus II v14.x and later. In addition to logic systems like FPGAs, it can also be used for education related to embedded systems using the Nios II CPU. Almost all resources have increased, making the transition from the DE0 easy.
