Drum Can Mixer 【Case Study】 Sealing and Solid-Liquid Mixing Test in a Drum Can

We will introduce a case study of sealed solid-liquid mixing tests using a drum mixer.

We conducted a "dry powder test" at our factory in Hiroshima to dissolve approximately 100 kg of calcium chloride plus α in 60 kg of water. The drum mixer (DMH200) was rotated vertically without any inclination. After adding 60 kg of water, we introduced just over 100 kg of granular calcium chloride. After 30 minutes, we scooped from the bottom with a ladle and found that it had dissolved well. We then added another type of powder and rotated for another 30 minutes, after which it was removed with no residue left and was discharged cleanly. The analysis showed no issues. Measures for Mixing High Adhesion Powders - Internal Surface Treatment

An approach to make powders less likely to adhere by processing the inner surface! Customers facing this issue are encouraged to give it a try.

I would like to introduce the testing of the mixer. Since there is nothing in the container, the advantage is that there is a low risk of contamination and it does not damage the raw materials. However, once the materials aggregate and adhere to the container walls, it is difficult to resolve that issue. Currently, we are conducting tests at the request of our customers, but the lid part is not mixing well. Therefore, we are considering an approach to coat or process the inner surface of the container to make it less likely for the powder to adhere. By performing a blast treatment on the stainless steel surface and intentionally making it rough, we can prevent adhesion. It is said that changing the treatment method according to the characteristics of the powder can be effective. We also have a 20L test container available for WPC treatment. We conducted a mixing test of "pea protein + carrot powder + corn starch" and "pea protein + kale powder + corn starch." With "carrot powder," it seemed to mix evenly even in a short time, but with "kale powder," there was not much change observed after 1 minute and 3 minutes, resulting in unevenness. Therefore, we received a suggestion from a customer to "try adding baseballs," and we added three regular baseballs. After opening it 10 minutes later, there still seemed to be some unevenness and lumps, but compared to before using the balls, there was a clear difference. Since we achieved results with the baseballs, we would like to consider using food-grade silicone balls in the future.
