We would like to introduce a case of "metal resinization" regarding cost reduction of parts manufactured by Kōhan Co., Ltd. in Hyogo Prefecture through resin molding. By converting parts made of iron and aluminum into resin, we aim to achieve weight reduction and material cost compression. However, this raises concerns about the decrease in mechanical strength, reduction in heat resistance, decline in chemical resistance, and lower flame retardancy. Are you having trouble with the prototyping of rubber parts? We can manufacture them in your desired shape and hardness, starting from just one piece.

For rubber prototypes, the vacuum casting method is the best. If you want to produce a few pieces to evaluate their shape and function (mainly hardness), what manufacturing method would you use? Generally, methods like additive manufacturing or machining are considered, but while additive manufacturing can achieve the desired shape, it limits hardness. On the other hand, machining does not have hardness limitations, but because the material is soft, it cannot reproduce complex shapes. I believe you have experienced the frustration of having to compromise on one aspect to achieve another. In such cases, the method we recommend is vacuum casting. The master model is inverted into silicone, and a rubber-based resin is injected. Since the shape of the master model can be perfectly inverted into the silicone, it allows for the production of flawless replicas. Additionally, because both the mold and the product are soft, minor undercuts can be managed without the need for additional components.

The concept of the mechanism of molding shrinkage and deformation (warpage) of resin products.

The deformation of the product is believed to be linked to the distribution of partial distortions leading to overall deformation!

The density changes when the molten resin solidifies. When the molten resin solidifies, the volume usually decreases compared to the molten state. If the entire product shrinks evenly at a constant rate, the molded product will simply become smaller, maintaining a similar shape. However, if the shrinkage varies in different parts, the molded product will deform and change shape, making it impossible to achieve the desired shape just by adjusting the dimensions of the mold. The deformation of the product is believed to be caused not by some external force acting on it, but by the distribution of partial strains leading to overall deformation. There are two points where the properties of plastics change discontinuously due to temperature changes, known as the glass transition temperature and the melting point. The glass transition temperature is the temperature at which a polymer, exhibiting a soft rubber-like state, transitions to a glassy state upon cooling. The glass transition temperature is denoted as Tg and is also referred to as the secondary transition point. Resin molded product "Kibbs"

No need for regular greasing! We solidify the lubricant into parts of your preferred shape.

"Kibbs" is a self-lubricating molded product made by mixing lubricating oil with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene and molding it. Despite being a molded body, it can automatically supply lubricating oil over a long period, maintaining its lubricating properties. Additionally, the lubricating oil is replenished by seeping out from the gaps between the particles of the molded product, allowing for a stable lubricating surface.
