Changes in the movement of air cargo exports from Japan before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Focusing on automotive parts and semiconductor manufacturing equipment! Contributing to the rapid recovery of export air cargo.

The recovery and expansion of air cargo exports from Japan has been significantly contributed to by what are considered representative air cargo items: 1. automotive parts and 2. semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This article focuses on automotive parts (HS code 8708) and semiconductor manufacturing equipment (HS code 8486) based on the performance values and data published in the Ministry of Finance trade statistics, analyzing and comparing the trends in their volume changes, air cargo share, and the share of air cargo they represent. While many items in the Ministry of Finance trade statistics do not have weight-based unit statistics published, both value-based and weight-based performance values and data are available for automotive parts and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Reasons and key points for continuously exploring the applications of owned technologies.

Introducing three patterns of ongoing seed-planting activities such as product development and new business initiatives!

In the semiconductor industry, which is the starting point of my career, it has been said in the past that the economy changes every three years. I remember that many of my seniors repeatedly changed jobs to align with this cycle. As time went on, the theory of the three-year cycle began to fade, and those engaged in semiconductor development and manufacturing sometimes faced ridicule for being "outdated" with comments like "Are you still doing semiconductors?" Additionally, the decline in mass-produced goods progressed, and the situation continued where we could not compete with overseas companies on cost, leading to a difficult period for Japan's semiconductor industry. After experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic, as you are aware, large-scale investments in the semiconductor industry by the government and private companies have been announced, and the industry is once again thriving. The above is my personal perspective on the nearly 20-year transition in the semiconductor industry in which I have been involved. While there may be differing opinions on this perspective, what I want to convey this time is not an opinion about the semiconductor industry. *You can view the detailed content of the blog through the related links.
