【Pump Trivia】About Seals
We will introduce representative seals (shaft sealing devices) used in the rotating parts of pumps!
There are two typical seals used in the rotating parts of pumps: "mechanical seals" and "packing seals." Packing seals seal the fluid inside the pump through contact pressure. In the shaft sealing area of the pump, a slight leakage that travels along the shaft surface is necessary for cooling and lubrication of the packing. On the other hand, mechanical seals are devices that minimize fluid leakage, offering the advantages of low leakage amounts and infrequent replacement. 【Features of Mechanical Seals】 ■ Shaft movement: Rotation ■ Leakage amount: Extremely low ■ Lifespan: Long ■ Power loss: Small friction area and friction coefficient result in low power loss ■ Replacement work: Requires disassembly of the pump *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
