[BIM Software Implementation Case] Oslo Airport Terminal 2

Harnessing the power of Open BIM! Introducing examples where everything except analysis was done using Tekla Structures.

Oslo Airport's Terminal 2 is a massive construction project involving over 100 affiliated companies, which must ensure safety and airport security on a daily basis while smoothly and reliably carrying out regular operations. This has posed a challenge for Aas-Jakobsen, the main structural engineer. The project required smooth collaboration with the airport management company, Avinor, and end clients, necessitating modeling by the affiliated companies. After trying several software solutions, Avinor decided to adopt "Tekla Structures" for this project. By using the Tekla Structures model for visualization, the creation of reinforced concrete, generation of documentation, and scheduling have become easier, and the model has also been beneficial to the affiliated companies. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Lamprell Company (Marine Structures)

Significant improvement in the efficiency of the structural design department! Introducing the case of Lamprell, which achieved high precision.

Lamprell, a company engaged in the engineering of marine structures, chose "Tekla Structures" with a good understanding of the speed, accuracy, consistency of detailed design, and the interference checking function between steel components, as well as the benefits of visualization. Initially, there were some doubts about the plan to use Tekla software for the fabrication of the barge, but considering the accuracy of the software, it was unanimously decided that utilizing 3D modeling would be the better approach. The modeled barge was able to extract various detailed information, such as platforms and handrails, within approximately 4 to 5 months. The team has a strong trust in the support system of this product and expresses great satisfaction with the ease of managing documentation on the software and the functionality for keeping records of drawing changes. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case] Blue Lock Quarry

Achieving great results even in challenging projects between remote locations through the use of Tekla Structure!

Fulton Hogan Quarries undertook a project to renovate the crushing and screening plant at the Blue Rock Quarry located in Cedar Creek, Queensland, Australia. The Blue Rock Quarry is situated approximately 50 km south of Brisbane's city center. The objective of this project was to expand the production capacity of the crushing and screening plant to meet the anticipated increase in demand for aggregate and road base products. Proindustrial Construction Company (Portugal) closely collaborated with contractors NascoTech and Southern Cross Engineering to carry out the civil works and structural design of the steel structures for this complex facility. The company was also responsible for creating various types of drawings and documents used in steel fabrication, including detailed designs for connections and joints, as well as shop drawings. Although this was a challenging project that required design collaboration between remote locations in Australia and Portugal, significant achievements were made thanks to the use of Tekla Structure and the dedicated efforts of the participating team members.

[BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Agora Evry Arena

Even when faced with unexpected challenges, it became possible to continue working by utilizing Tekla Model Sharing.

This construction is a renovation project for the Agora Evry Arena, which was built as an auditorium in 1970. At that time, it was a complex project that required high technical skills, and the expertise of the Bordan Châtauneuf team was necessary for the construction. The first challenge of this project was to recreate the design model of the existing building from scratch in order to add a new structure. The modeling was based on a manual created by Bordan Châtauneuf in 1970. Using point cloud data obtained from a 3D scan of the existing structure, the components were adjusted by a few centimeters. It was confirmed that the measured point cloud data had position information very close to that of the actual building. This "research" faced several unexpected challenges, but despite the difficulties, it became possible to continue working by utilizing Tekla ModelSharing.

[BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Metropolitan Bus Terminal

All 3D models, including documents such as production drawings and work processes, are created using Tekla Structures!

The Integrated Transport Center is the largest investment project of the Lublin city government, and as part of this, the contractor Budimex has constructed a new bus station along with the reconstruction of the transport system. The company responsible for this impressive steel structure is Mostostal Kraków. The highlight of this project, the Lublin Metropolitan Bus Terminal's roof, is a representative landmark of Lublin, with the weight of the steel columns and truss sections with crowns totaling approximately 1550 tons. Its artistic appearance is composed of precise processing techniques and complex welding. MTA Engineering was responsible for the structural calculations, and the design engineering department of Mostostal Kraków led the detailed design work. The station's roof was designed as a spatial structure, supported by diagonal columns. All 3D models, including production drawings and work process documents, were created using Tekla Structures.

[BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Tampere Deck Arena

Utilizing BIM in all designs! A case of a unique activity complex located above the railway in the city center.

The Tampere Deck Arena project is part of a large-scale development taking place around the central station of Finland's third-largest city. The construction of a unique activity complex that has emerged above the railway tracks in downtown Tampere was a highly unusual and challenging project even on an international level. The scale of construction, the complexity arising from various design requirements, the number of stakeholders involved, and overlapping responsibilities were challenges for the project, but these issues were resolved by combining various BIM models. One of the challenges faced by the designers was the coordination of interference issues that would have been unmanageable without the use of BIM for a project of this scale. By utilizing BIM, adjustments to the structures around the railway tracks and the positioning of ceilings and equipment were carried out without any problems. A large number of engineers participated in this project, and advanced BIM software was helpful when explaining construction decisions. Additionally, the use of BIM software allowed designers and other project stakeholders to focus on key tasks such as design and project management.

[BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Stadium Renovation Project

Transmitting vertical loads to two linked pendulums! Introducing a case where circulation within the stadium has improved!

We would like to introduce a case study on the introduction of BIM software for the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium renovation project. The new fixed roof, which uses over 9,000 tons of steel, consists of two trusses spanning 177 meters in length and four cross trusses measuring 144 meters in length. This roof is retractable and splits into two panels that slide over the inner cross trusses. The panels are made up of five air-inflatable cushions measuring 72×7 meters, positioned between six steel hybrid trusses with a span of 72.5 meters. Additionally, during the assembly process, the main truss, which served as a guide for the other trusses, transmits vertical loads to two new evacuation towers on the west side and two linked pendulums integrated into the building on the east side, while completely isolating horizontal loads from the existing structure. The redevelopment of the stadium also includes the installation of a video scoreboard. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
