[Case Study on Problem Solving] Curtain and Interior Processing Industry Case 5

There is a large roll of hook and loop fastener! This is a case that led to a significant improvement in production efficiency and a reduction in scrap materials.

We would like to introduce a case that solved the customer's concern in the curtain and interior processing industry about wanting to reduce the waste of Velcro that cannot be used and is thrown away. There was a problem where switching operations became cumbersome with 25m rolls for long sewing on curtains, resulting in leftover materials that felt wasteful as the necessary amount could not be obtained. Therefore, we proposed a product that could be shipped in 50m rolls. By doubling the number of rolls from 25m to 50m, this led to a significant improvement in production efficiency and a reduction in leftover materials, reducing waste and halving the switching effort. [Overview] ■ Issues - Switching operations are cumbersome with 25m rolls for long sewing on curtains - Want to reduce the waste of Velcro that cannot be used and is thrown away ■ Results - The number of rolls doubled from 25m to 50m - Led to a significant improvement in production efficiency and reduction of leftover materials - Reduced waste and halved the switching effort *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

The origin of the Arako logo.

The mechanism of how hook-and-loop fasteners stick! Introducing Arako Column vol. 8.

This is our company's logo. It resembles something, yes, it's an enlarged view of a hook-and-loop fastener. How does a hook-and-loop fastener actually stick together? A hook-and-loop fastener consists of a hook side (also called side A or male) that has a hook-shaped structure and a loop side (also called side B or female) that has a loop-shaped structure. The mechanism works by the hook side (the hooks) catching onto the loop side (the loops). *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related links. Arako Column Vol. 4 "Three Types of Fasteners"

Fasteners can be broadly classified into three types: linear fasteners, surface fasteners, and point fasteners!

The official name of our product "AK Tape" is referred to as "hook and loop fastener," which we previously communicated. However, what does "fastener" actually mean? A fastener refers to something that can be opened and closed freely multiple times, and it means "something that securely fastens" in English. *For more details on the column, you can view it through the related link. Arako Column Vol. 3 "The Evolution of Hook and Loop Fasteners"

Inspired by the wild burdock seeds stuck to my clothes and my beloved dog, I started my research!

I will convey the evolution of hook-and-loop fasteners once again. It all began in 1941 when I was climbing the Alps and got the idea from the wild burdock seeds that stuck to my clothes and my beloved dog. Research started in 1948. A patent was filed in 1951, and it was certified in 1955. In 1952, Velcro S.A. was established in Switzerland, producing hook-and-loop fasteners while also licensing to companies in various countries and establishing local subsidiaries, producing under the name "Velcro." *For detailed content of the column, please refer to the related links.
