Case study of drone utilization for plant equipment inspection | Safety confirmation in hazardous locations

Drones solve the problem of wanting to reduce dangerous work in places such as high altitudes or areas with hazardous substances! [Major plant maintenance company, Sankyu Inc.]

Sankyu, a major plant maintenance company engaged in engineering, logistics, and operational support. Inspection work to identify defective areas in plant equipment primarily relies on visual inspections by personnel. While scaffolding is set up and inspections are conducted using aerial work platforms, the time and cost required for these preparatory steps pose challenges. Moreover, these defective areas are often located in high, narrow, and dark places that are difficult for people to access, making the work challenging and dangerous. To address these issues, the company has introduced our inspection drone, 'IBIS.' It is used for inspections of production equipment in steel and petrochemical manufacturers, capturing images of facilities such as gas cleaning equipment and exhaust ducts. Furthermore, these images are utilized to generate orthomosaics. *We have compiled a case study on the use of inspection drones at Sankyu Corporation in a document. Examples of drone applications in the energy sector

Explanation of power spot checks and recovery work during power outages!

The biggest advantage of using drones for inspecting electrical equipment is the significant reduction in work time and the ability to cut labor costs. Additionally, based on aerial images, it is possible to measure the overall safety of operations and quickly identify problems. In particular, the use of drones is suitable for inspecting hazardous equipment such as transmission towers and substations. By using drones in areas where workers cannot approach, it is possible to quickly access the towers and diagnose what would normally take several hours in just a few minutes while collecting real-time images. *For more details, you can view the related links. Inspection utilizing the "Trial Order Certification Project" was conducted on the rainwater pipes in Chiba City.

The aim was to conduct a screening survey using the inspection drone "IBIS2" in areas that had not been inspected for a long time!

Liberaware Co., Ltd. conducted an inspection survey of rainwater storage facilities (rainwater pipes) on Monday, May 26, 2025, in Chuo Ward, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. This survey was contracted as a discretionary agreement for inspection work under Chiba City's "Trial Order Certification Project" and was carried out in collaboration with the Chiba City Sewage Pipeline Maintenance Cooperative. This initiative was realized following an incident in Yashio City, Saitama Prefecture, where our drone discovered the driver's seat of a truck during a road subsidence accident, which garnered interest from the Chiba City Sewage Maintenance Division. *For more details about the news, please refer to the related link.
