[Case Study] Two-Part Mechanical Seal That Can Be Installed Without Disassembling the Pump

Can be installed without disassembling the pump - 2-part mechanical seal.

In a factory using dozens of large circulation pumps for cooling water, frequent water leaks from the pumps were causing problems. These pumps used gland packing as the sealing material, but the seals were ineffective, leading to water leaks that soaked the surrounding area. The factory's production was busy, making it difficult to stop the pumps frequently, and the large number of pumps, along with the safety risks associated with tightening the packing and adjusting for leaks while the pumps were in operation, meant that these tasks were not being performed. 1. Increased loss of water and costs for recovery and cleaning. 2. Reduced lifespan and damage to bearings and pump failures due to water leaks. 3. Wear on the pump shaft caused by gland packing. 4. Adjustments to rotating equipment while in operation are not possible due to the risk of entanglement. 5. Maintenance requires extensive work using tow trucks and other equipment due to the size of the pumps. We received a consultation expressing a desire to reduce these tasks as much as possible.

Mechanical seal repair: Reduce costs by repairing instead of replacing!

Mechanical seals used in pumps and other equipment. In fact, they can be restored to a condition almost like new through repairs.

Many companies immediately consider purchasing a new mechanical seal when a malfunction occurs. However, it is not widely known that mechanical seals can be restored to nearly new condition through repairs. Furthermore, there is a significant price difference between purchasing a new one and opting for repairs, leading to considerable cost savings. Our repair service can also accommodate mechanical seals from other companies with a quick turnaround, so please feel free to consult with us.

"What is a mechanical seal?" "How does it work?" "What are the differences from other seals?" "What types are there?" We will answer these questions! *Materials will be provided.

A seal is a general term for devices that prevent the leakage of liquids inside fluid machinery and prevent the intrusion of foreign substances. A "mechanical seal" is a type of seal that prevents the leakage of liquids within a machine. This document provides basic knowledge about mechanical seals, their mechanisms, differences from other seals, and types. At Unicar Industries, we accept orders for general products that can be provided at short lead times and low prices, as well as custom products that can be ordered from a single unit. We also accept inquiries about mechanical seals that have been "discontinued" or for which the manufacturer is "unknown"! We will take the actual product, clean and disassemble it to check its condition, and repair it with a short lead time. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Manufacturing Communication: Mechanical Seal

High-quality manufacturing is achieved through a combination of NC lathe processing and machining!

We manufacture a component known as a mechanical seal. The mechanical seal emerged around the end of the 19th century. It is a mechanism that seals mechanically to prevent leakage from the rotating shaft that penetrates the pressure vessel (casing) in rotating equipment such as pumps and agitators. Research and development progressed as military technology, but it has rapidly evolved in recent years, spurred by the advancement of various industries, including the chemical industry. It is unfortunate that images cannot be included, but due to its mechanical properties, the nature of the mechanical seal prevents oil and water leaks, which means that the geometric tolerances for aspects such as flatness, parallelism, and perpendicularity of the components are extremely strict. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for further inquiries.

[Information] 14th Basic Course on Mechanical Seals

"What is the difference from Grand Packing? What is it?" This question will be explained! We will introduce a thorough comparison and more.

This document contains information about the 14th Basic Mechanical Seal Course, and we will explain the question, "What is the difference from a gland packing?" Gland packing is a cord-like packing made of woven fibers. Multiple gland packings are housed in a stuffing box through which the shaft passes, and the gland is tightened with bolts to make contact between the shaft and the gland packing, creating a seal. To prevent the gland packing from seizing to the shaft, it is adjusted to allow a slight leakage of liquid.
