"Spray drying" is a technology that instantly dries a liquid by spraying it in a drying chamber to create fine droplets, utilizing the surface tension of water to produce spherical, highly flowable granules. In a spray dryer, slurry is directly pumped into the drying chamber and atomized, allowing for the stable production of granules with an average size of around 50μm in a single process. This method stabilizes moisture, particle size, and bulk density, while also reducing dust generation. Additionally, it is possible to microencapsulate liquids using the inclusion effect of cyclodextrin, turning them into powder. We have started the operation of the lab equipment "CL-8 (manufactured by Okawara Kako Ki)" that can safely spray-dry organic solvent-based liquids under a nitrogen gas flow! The specifications of the device indicate an ethanol evaporation rate of 4 kg/h at a hot air temperature of 140°C. While there is a strong demand for organic solvents, there are extremely limited places where testing, the first step in production, can be conducted, leading to difficulties in development. We have received feedback regarding this issue through inquiries on our website and during exhibitions every year.
