Case Study: Analysis of Film Quality and Durability Evaluation of Ultra-Hard Chip Surface Coating
Tests were conducted on two types of carbide tips for cast iron machining.
We would like to introduce a case study on the "Film Quality Analysis and Durability Evaluation of Coated Carbide Inserts." 【Objective】 ● Identify the multilayer structure of the film and conduct a comparative evaluation against design values. ● Evaluate the film strength that contributes to durability. 【Test Content】 For two types of carbide inserts used in cast iron machining, MSE tests were conducted to obtain the full layer distribution through a two-particle test for comparative evaluation. 【Test Results】 * For more details, please contact us; detailed test results can be viewed in distribution graphs. 【Customer Feedback】 ● Testing was possible while maintaining the chip shape, allowing for structural comparison with design values and precise strength inspection from the detailed strength distribution. ● Differences in "micro strength and homogeneity of the film" were highlighted from Test 1, and differences in "toughness of the film" were revealed from Test 2. ● Insights consistent with cutting durability were obtained from Test 2. * For more details, please contact us or download the PDF materials for further information.
