Gotoh Electric Co., Ltd. began developing square wires in 1998 in preparation for the 21st century and announced their completion in various newspapers on December 24, 2000. Believing that the 21st century would see a shift from round wires to square wires, they solved numerous challenges and started prototype sales of the wires in 2002, as well as prototype winding of coils, leading to the commencement of mass production of the coils. Thanks to these efforts, in 2008, they boasted sales of over one million units each month. This wire, once considered a dream, contributes to miniaturization and weight reduction while demonstrating high performance and efficiency compared to round wires.
