In 3D measurement using UAV lasers, it is possible to acquire large volumes of 3D point cloud data of the terrain and other measurement targets in a short time. Since measurements can be taken from the air, it is possible to efficiently measure difficult-to-access locations without the need for human entry. Additionally, by adopting Time of Flight (TOF) lasers, it is now possible to measure the ground surface under vegetation, which was not feasible with photogrammetry. This can be utilized as a powerful tool in tasks such as creating digital terrain models in mountainous areas.

Free membership registrationThe laser emitted from a scanner, also known as a TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanner), is used to obtain three-dimensional point cloud data (a collection of three-dimensional points) of the measurement target. It can acquire a large amount of point data in a non-contact, non-prism manner, and each point in the point cloud is assigned three-dimensional coordinate values (X, Y, Z), color (R, G, B), and the reflectivity of the laser from the measurement target. Measurements that would take about a week with a Total Station (TS) can be completed in just a few minutes with TLS.
