"Quartz glass" has good transmission characteristics over a wide wavelength range from ultraviolet to infrared. It is heat-resistant, with a softening point of about 1700°C, and can be used at high temperatures up to 1000°C. Its thermal expansion coefficient is also extremely low, allowing it to withstand rapid temperature changes.
