LUVOCOM XCF is a special carbon fiber reinforced compound material known as "eXtra Carbon Fiber" developed by the German company Lehvoss. It achieves a tensile strength of up to 420 MPa and a tensile modulus of up to 50 GPa, exhibiting excellent impact strength, making it a very high-strength and high-rigidity thermoplastic resin material. It has low thermal expansion, resulting in excellent dimensional accuracy. Due to these characteristics, it can be widely used as a metal alternative or as a substitute for CFRP/GFRP, where high mechanical properties are required, and it is expected to provide weight reduction and cost-saving benefits. On the other hand, it is also possible to aim for further weight reduction by using it instead of glass short fiber or glass long fiber reinforced resins. The specific gravity of carbon fiber is about 1.8, which is lower than that of glass fiber at about 2.5, and the amount of fiber needed to achieve similar mechanical properties is less, allowing for a weight reduction of up to about 30% compared to using glass fiber reinforced resin. By using materials with a smaller amount of fiber, moldability improves, and design freedom increases.

Since the start of the compound business in 1983, the development and manufacturing of lubricating compounds has been the core business of Lehvoss. By using unique formulations of lubricants and reinforcing materials, we have achieved improvements in tribological performance such as friction and wear characteristics and sliding properties. Common lubricants include PTFE, graphite, and silicone oil, but PTFE is a type of PFAS. PFAS stands for perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and there are currently various discussions and proposals regarding their manufacture and use, with the industry seeking alternative materials. At Lehvoss, we have been developing PFAS-free lubricating compounds since the 1990s, before discussions about PFAS became active, and these compounds have been adopted in many applications. PFAS-free lubricating compounds are based on engineering plastics and super engineering plastics such as PA66, PA46, PBT, PPS, and PEEK, and include various formulations with additives utilizing nanotechnology. LUVOCOM is a product line of compound resin materials developed and manufactured by the German company Lehvoss. Since 1983, Lehvoss has been engaged in the manufacturing of thermoplastic resin compounds. They have developed over 4,000 formulations with high strength, thermal conductivity, lubricity, EMI shielding properties, conductivity, metal detection compatibility, and high heat resistance. With extensive knowledge and know-how regarding resins, fillers, and additives, they can propose materials tailored to specific requirements. Due to their excellent functionality and stable quality, many materials have been certified by major automotive OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturers, and LUVOCOM compounds are used not only in the automotive sector but also in aerospace, medical, industrial, electrical and electronics, and sports and leisure fields. Lehvoss has been developing and manufacturing PEEK (polyether ether ketone) resin compounds since shortly after the introduction of PEEK resin. Leveraging the characteristics of PEEK resin, such as high heat resistance, chemical resistance, steam resistance, wear resistance, creep properties, high strength, and flame retardancy, they offer proposals ranging from general formulations to specialized formulations according to needs.

The "Metal Detector Compatible Foreign Matter Prevention Resin Compound" from Germany's Lehmann & Voss is a material that can prevent the contamination of plastics in food manufacturing processes. LUVOCOM is a thermally conductive compound resin material developed and manufactured by the German company Lehmann & Voss. General plastics have low thermal conductivity, around 0.1 to 0.4 W/mK. In contrast, LUVOCOM thermally conductive compound resins achieve high thermal conductivity of up to 28 W/mK through a unique additive formulation. As base resins, we have a proven track record with various thermoplastic resins such as PEEK, PEI, LCP, PPS, PPA, PA66, PET, and PC, and we offer both conductive and insulating materials. Thermally conductive compound resins often require a large amount of inorganic fillers to achieve high thermal conductivity, which can negatively impact moldability and mechanical properties. At Lehmann & Voss, we pursue a balance between thermal conductivity, moldability, and mechanical properties based on our extensive experience.

While single-vane vacuum pumps have become mainstream, the demand for wear resistance in materials for vanes has increased significantly in order to maximize pump performance and maintain high reliability throughout the pump's lifespan. Due to the extremely high loads, a high level of mechanical strength, rigidity, and impact resistance is required. LUVOCOM sliding VAP compounds are specially designed compounds based on Lehvoss's extensive experience to meet such high demands. The base resins include PEEK and PPS, and we offer multiple grades tailored to the requirements of individual projects.

By adding materials such as PTFE, graphite, mineral fillers, carbon fibers, glass fibers, aramid fibers, and nano-fillers, we improve surface lubricity and friction/wear characteristics. The benefits of using sliding compound materials include the following points: - It is possible to maintain a clean state as there is no need to use lubricants. - There are no additional costs associated with using lubricants. - It is possible to continue exhibiting sliding properties for an extended period. In addition to sliding properties and friction/wear characteristics, we also implement measures to keep the coefficient of linear expansion low. These compound resin materials are resistant to corrosion and oxidation caused by moisture, acids, and alkalis, making them suitable as alternative materials to metals in applications where metal corrosion is a common issue. As base resins, we have a proven track record with many resins such as PAEK, PEEK, PEI, PES, PPS, PPA, PA66, PA6, POM, and PBT. We will propose appropriate combinations of base resins and various fillers based on the customer's application.

By adding a uniquely formulated additive to the base resin PES (polyether sulfone), we have developed a material that excels in wear resistance and dimensional accuracy. It is used as an alternative to aluminum parts, and improvements in reaction speed and performance in variable valve timing mechanisms have been confirmed. Furthermore, it is not only a metal substitute but also a candidate for switching from other super engineering plastics such as PEEK and PEI. 'LUVOCOM 1100-8549' is a material that offers an excellent balance of mechanical properties, outstanding friction and wear characteristics, and high dimensional stability. The anisotropy of the coefficient of linear expansion has also been improved, and die swell is minimized, which means that post-processing after molding can be kept to a minimum, leading to potential cost reduction benefits.
