We would like to introduce the compression and recovery characteristics of our HELICOFLEX® series. The compression recovery of the HELICOFLEX series features a gently flattening compression curve. The recovery curve takes a different shape than the compression curve. This is the result of two permanent deformations (the elastic deformation of the spring and the plastic deformation of the outer casing). Each value is determined by the allowable leakage amount and the selection of materials. The "HelicoFlex Seal" is an elastic metal seal developed in collaboration with the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). The bolt load for the HelicoFlex series is determined according to CODAP (Annex C6A4: analogous to the "Bolt Tightening Flange Regulations for Pressure Vessels" such as JIS). The Delta Seal (HNV HELICOFLEX(R) DELTA) has two delta-shaped protrusions on the contact side of the cross-section. The delta-shaped protrusions are designed to collapse and disappear during the compression of the outer casing when integrated into the flange groove, and the design tightening pressure of the Delta Seal is lower compared to the Helicoflex seal, allowing for replacement with elastomer O-rings. The spring of the "HelicoFlex Beta HNR" has been specially processed around its entire circumference to distribute elasticity more appropriately to the metal casing. When compared to the standard HelicoFlex seal, the design tightening pressure (Y2 value) is theoretically reduced by about 30%.
