Free membership registrationThe water-oil insulated tube is a type of insulating tube used in insulation breakdown tests to understand the aging condition of CV cables that have been removed from actual power equipment. It is inserted into the cable termination to relax the electric field using water and oil. In this test, an AC high voltage is applied to the removed CV cable with the aim of causing insulation breakdown in the effective electrode part (XLPE). However, at the cable termination (end part), the equipotential lines and electric field lines become skewed, concentrating the electric field, which leads to breakdown occurring near the outer conductor of the termination. By using the "water-oil insulated tube" to fill with water and oil, the stress of electric field concentration at the termination is reduced, and the potential gradient becomes gentler, allowing for the voltage to be increased to the point where insulation breakdown occurs in the effective electrode part. Our company has a long-standing track record of being a partner to research institutes related to power, involved in the termination processing of insulation breakdown tests for removed CV cables (3.3kV to 22kV) as well as the production and experimentation of water-oil insulated tubes.
