The company manufactures and sells model trains and was spending a lot of time and effort on packaging models of different sizes and shapes. Before the implementation, there were no suitable cardboard boxes for the target product, resulting in the use of larger boxes. This posed a risk of the products moving inside and damaging the packaging unless cushioning material was added. After the implementation, the boxes were the perfect size, eliminating the need for cushioning material and reducing material costs.
