The products of Okabe Mica Industry, made from natural mineral mica, are materials that combine thinness with excellent electrical insulation and heat resistance properties, making them suitable for electronic devices that require miniaturization, thinness, and high density. In recent years, as electronic devices have become increasingly complex, mica insulation materials are also required to have intricate shapes. Therefore, Okabe Mica Industry is advancing the development of new technologies for manufacturing custom mica molded products tailored to customer specifications. Generally, when it comes to molded products, there is an image that creating molds is necessary, and the prototype costs are very high. To address this, Okabe Mica Industry is exploring low-cost prototype molding using simple molds. This makes it possible to significantly reduce costs compared to prototypes made with traditional molds. Furthermore, it allows for the production of the final mold only after sufficient evaluation of the prototypes. Additionally, Okabe Mica Industry is continuously conducting research and development on the know-how of mica sheets suitable for such molding processes. Please feel free to consult us with any ideas you may have! Our specialized staff will respond sincerely!

Free membership registrationOkabe Maika Industrial Co., Ltd. has a long-standing track record as a manufacturer of electrical insulators, but we have taken on new challenges in different fields to improve the product characteristics for our customers in the generator manufacturing sector. Currently, we offer a lineup of three types of products: prepreg sheets, tapes, and plates. Until now, our applications have primarily focused on materials designed to protect generators and motors in the heavy electrical field from insulation degradation caused by corona discharge. In the future, we will assist in the design and development of conductive materials tailored to specific applications, not only in the heavy electrical field but also for the protection of electrical equipment subjected to high voltages, addressing static electricity issues in the semiconductor sector, and in the automotive industry, which is shifting towards electric energy. We are also able to accommodate prototype requests based on customer needs, so please feel free to consult with our specialized staff.

Free membership registrationA public research institute and university located in Fukuoka Prefecture are researching adsorbents for environmental purification. They requested our cooperation, leveraging our expertise in mica, and we conducted joint research. As part of this project, it was necessary to conduct fundamental research on suitable conditions for high-efficiency mica adsorbents. Okabe Mica Industry has the capability to procure mica and has experimental expertise through specialized chemical staff. In this project, qualitative confirmation and identification of the synthesized replacement mica were conducted by experienced analytical chemists, who analyzed how much ion species were adsorbed. Furthermore, we were able to quickly explore methods through a broad network of industry-academia-government collaboration, allowing for rapid consideration of synthesis methods and granulation. [Case Study] ■ Background - We received a request for cooperation from a public research institute and university in Fukuoka Prefecture and conducted joint research. ■ Challenge - It is necessary to conduct fundamental research on suitable conditions for high-efficiency mica adsorbents. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationOur company has commercialized an ion generator using the principle of a mica deionizer. However, while customers are interested in negative ions, they lack knowledge and experience on how to use them, which has hindered progress in their consideration. Therefore, we conducted performance evaluations by incorporating the technology into actual units, investigated suitable installation methods, and made proposals to customers. Additionally, we established a method for antimicrobial testing in collaboration with public research institutes and universities to obtain catalog data that customers can use to appeal to consumers. We aim to gather knowledge widely, both internally and externally, to propose "things" and develop products that satisfy our customers. This is the direction we aspire to move towards in the future. [Case Study] ■ Background - Commercialized an ion generator using the principle of a mica deionizer. ■ Challenges - Customers are interested in negative ions but lack knowledge, which has hindered progress in their consideration. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationTo achieve stable quality in new product development, it was necessary to crush the particulate functional fillers and disperse them in the adhesive, but our company lacked the know-how for this. Therefore, we repeatedly conducted trials with a dispersion and kneading machine manufacturer until we achieved the ideal dispersion state, receiving numerous pieces of advice from their engineers. Using the prototypes developed, we further created and evaluated additional product prototypes. Two years later, we finally established the kneading method and succeeded in product development. We believe that not being rigidly attached to existing in-house technologies and actively seeking and incorporating new technologies from outside the company is an important aspect of future new product development. [Case Study] ■ Background - It was necessary to crush the particulate functional fillers and disperse them in the adhesive, but our company lacked the know-how. ■ Challenge - The powder acting as a functional filler was not evenly dispersed. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationOkabe Maika Industrial Co., Ltd. has a long-standing track record as a manufacturer of electrical insulators, but has taken on new challenges in different fields to improve the product characteristics of our generator manufacturer customers. Generators have a large internal potential difference, and if there are any defects (voids), various discharges can occur, leading to insulation degradation. To solve this problem, we developed a sheet with "semiconductive" properties. This sheet is designed to easily fill the gaps in the complex shapes of generator coils by making the adhesive semi-cured to improve its fluidity. This semiconductive sheet is a conductive material that can change shape and harden even in complex geometries, making it suitable for various applications beyond just generators. [Case Study] ■ Background - Taking on new challenges to improve the product characteristics of our customers. ■ Issues - Generators have a large internal potential difference, and if there are any defects (voids), various discharges can occur, leading to insulation degradation. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationIn factory production lines, static electricity-related troubles are addressed by the widespread use of ionizers. The needle-type discharge ionizer holds a significant market share, but it has the challenge of not being installable in narrow spaces. Therefore, the ionizer developed by Okabe Mica Industry uses mica as a dielectric, placing high-voltage and low-voltage electrodes on both sides. By leveraging the excellent electrical insulation properties of mica, it has become possible to make the dielectric thinner, successfully miniaturizing the high-voltage power supply. [Case Study] ■ Challenge: Cannot be installed in narrow spaces - Distance is needed for ion mixing - Height is required - High voltage is necessary *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationAt Okabe Maika Industrial, we primarily produce mica tape by laminating film and glass cloth with mica. However, we received a request from a customer to laminate with a substrate that has a strength we have not previously encountered. The substrate requested by the customer had the following issues: 1. Due to its lack of strength, using it in the normal lamination process resulted in wrinkles. 2. When applying adhesive and drying it through heat treatment, the substrate would stretch. To address these challenges, we optimized the manufacturing process by implementing 1. optimization of the transport path and 2. introduction of a heat-pressing method through optimization of the lamination roll. We achieved results that satisfied the customer while also meeting the proposed cost. [Solution] ■ We implemented optimization of the manufacturing process by introducing a heat-pressing method through optimization of the transport path and lamination roll. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
