The rebuilt technology that started with the reuse of engines is now being re-evaluated from various perspectives. Since our establishment in 1947 as a crankshaft repair processing company, we have been engaged in a rebuilt business that regenerates used engines to a level of functionality comparable to new ones using our unique technology, in line with the needs of the times (repair quality exceeding that of an overhaul). In order to realize a resource-circulating society and reduce environmental impact, our technology is currently being reassessed. We would like to introduce the benefits of rebuilt technology as a means to create the future. <Benefits of Rebuilding> ■ Environmental contribution through resource circulation ■ Reduction of CO2 emissions in the engine production process ■ Strengthening response to risks of supply disruption of overseas resources ■ Cost reduction through resource reuse (contributing to improvements in business models) This technology has been recognized for its significant contribution to the formation of a low-carbon society and a resource-circulating society in terms of extending the lifespan of engines and reducing waste and energy consumption, and we received the Excellence Award at the Aichi Environmental Award in 2020. *For detailed information, please refer to the related links. Free membership registrationJapan Engine is participating in Aichi Prefecture's "Circular Economy Promotion Plan (10-year plan starting from fiscal year 2022)" and is working on the circular economy. Japan Engine is a rebuilt automotive engine company with 75 years of experience. "Rebuilt" refers to the process of disassembling, processing, cleaning, replacing parts, assembling, and inspecting used machinery to restore it to a condition similar to new. In the circular economy, an important aspect alongside regeneration technology is the establishment of channels for resource circulation. The traditional recycling economy is an economic activity of "repairing and regenerating when broken," which has been inefficient due to the inability to standardize regeneration work, resulting in the prioritization of "mass production and mass disposal" as the "efficient" economic activity. By collaborating with manufacturers and large users, a more efficient resource regeneration system can be established, contributing to the environment as part of the circular economy. Our company has also obtained SBT certification and believes we can assist in reducing CO2 emissions across the entire supply chain (clarifying the amount of reduction). If you are considering a circular economy, please feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationCompany A, a steel manufacturer, was using special vehicles to load massive steel materials onto transport ships. Due to the aging of these vehicles, Company A requested the overhaul of core components such as engines from a special vehicle manufacturer. However, since the vehicles were custom-made, replacement parts for the overhaul had to be newly manufactured. Therefore, Company A wanted to continue using the old vehicles while considering both cost and environmental aspects, and consulted with us. The repairs and overhauls we perform not only involve replacing parts with new ones but also allow for the restoration of old parts to like-new condition through polishing, buildup, and disassembly repairs. [Case Study] ■Consultation Details - The engine and all components are custom shapes due to being special vehicles. - The manufacturer suggested replacing the entire vehicle. ■Proposal Details - Restoration to like-new condition by polishing and rebuilding old parts. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationIn recent years, instead of replacing diesel engines in large vehicles like trucks with new ones after a certain period, it has become increasingly common to revive them to like-new condition through regular maintenance and overhauls, allowing one engine to be used for a long time. An overhaul (OH) is an environmentally friendly method that involves disassembling an engine that has been in use for many years and is starting to show operational issues, or one that has stopped working for some reason, down to the individual parts. It includes replacing and processing consumables and parts, and then reassembling the engine to restore it to like-new condition. This process repairs areas of friction to prevent air and oil intrusion or leaks, and cleans out sludge and carbon that have accumulated in the engine due to long-term use or insufficient maintenance. Depending on the situation, parts with defects, such as pistons and valves, can be replaced with new ones, allowing the engine to be revived with performance comparable to a new engine, enabling it to be used for a long time.

Free membership registrationGas heat pumps (GHP) / generators / air conditioning systems, commercial air conditioners / freezers, etc., are mostly under maintenance contracts between end users and electrical manufacturers. While some manufacturers may handle everything in-house, managing all parts' maintenance in-house can be costly in terms of human resources. The engine, in particular, is one of the more complex parts with many components. There may be customers who can manage other smaller parts in-house but find the engine challenging. In such cases, please leave it to Japan Engine. As professionals in engines, we will handle only the engine portion of your maintenance contract as an outsourced service. We are equipped with the largest facilities in the country for overhaul services, so you can trust us with regular overhaul contracts for dozens of units per month.

Free membership registrationHaving specialized technicians in the in-house maintenance department of a railway company and performing maintenance on all parts is challenging in terms of management and cost. Additionally, there is a growing issue of a shortage of technicians in various fields, leading to an increasing number of companies that find themselves unable to handle this in-house even if they want to. Therefore, by outsourcing the maintenance of hydraulic components entirely, we can solve management and personnel issues, allowing companies to focus on the work they should be enhancing. Since safety and security are our top priorities, we are equipped with various testing machines specifically for railway components and have a thorough quality control system in place, so you can trust us to handle it with confidence.

Free membership registrationIn engine rebuilding, it is said that approximately 80% of CO2 emissions can be reduced during the production process compared to producing new engines. Additionally, by reusing products instead of disposing of them, further reductions in supply chain emissions can be achieved. We ask you to consider not only reducing CO2 emissions through "energy saving" and "cost reduction" in the new engine production process but also to consider using rebuilt engines. *Source: Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, "CO2 Emission Reduction Effects from the Use of Rebuilt Engines," November 2018, Meiji University & Japan Automobile Recycling Business Association.

Free membership registrationIn Japan, since the Great East Japan Earthquake, large-scale earthquakes have been frequent. Due to the effects of global warming, typhoons and heavy rain disasters have caused significant damage, increasing the importance of disaster preparedness. Companies are also finding it essential to develop business continuity plans (BCP). School gymnasiums and martial arts dojos are not only introducing air conditioning systems as measures against extreme heat and heatstroke, but they also serve as evacuation centers during disasters. Therefore, establishing a system to secure energy during disasters (such as during power outages) has become an urgent issue. In recent years, power-independent GHPs that can provide emergency power and cooking energy, in addition to functioning as air conditioning units during disasters, have become more widespread, and the installation of disaster response bulk (disaster response bulk) has also been increasing. By properly maintaining the engines of GHPs, we aim to enable effective use during disasters and contribute to environmental protection through resource recycling and cost reduction for our customers by refurbishing aging engines.

Free membership registrationWith the spread of as-a-service models such as Mobility as a Service (MaaS), operators are transitioning from a business model where they sell products outright to customers (users) to a model where they retain ownership of the products and provide access to customers through sharing or subscription. In the as-a-service model, the utilization rate of products increases, making proper maintenance key to extending product lifespan and reducing costs through remanufacturing. Additionally, since operators can manage the entire lifecycle of the product, they can contribute to a resource-circulating society by reducing waste through remanufacturing.
