It possesses strength and hardness comparable to stainless steel, while also having relatively high conductivity, making it one of the most outstanding performers among copper alloys. Among these, the 25 alloy (C1720), which excels in strength and hardness, is widely used, while the 11 alloy is utilized for applications requiring conductivity. In particular, in applications such as connectors and switches where formability, strength, and fatigue properties are crucial, as well as in probe pin applications where hardness and conductivity are emphasized, there is a trend towards miniaturization and thin-walling of components. This process is known as aging treatment (heat treatment); however, after aging treatment, there can be cases where bending processing leads to cracking or where machining resistance is high, making it difficult to process effectively. Since its machinability is not as good compared to brass, it is often the case that the material is partially processed before heat treatment for finishing, or that aging treatment is performed after machining. There are recommended settings for heat treatment that are somewhat fixed.
