In 1994, when the Japanese home appliance industry began its overseas expansion, Asahi Kogyo established a factory in Malaysia at the request of the Malaysian government. The Malaysian factory has a vast area of 20,000 tsubo, which is ten times larger than the headquarters factory, and employs over 1,600 staff members.
