In the maintenance of heat exchanger tubes, the current methods for sealing leaking tubes include driving in taper pins and seal welding for high-pressure equipment. The Pop-A-Plug from Curtis Wright in the United States uses a specially machined mechanical structure plug that is sealed using a dedicated tool. It maintains pressure resistance up to approximately 40 MPa, and seal welding after plugging is not required (the maximum pressure resistance varies by size).
