Swissbit is an independent manufacturer in Europe, providing reliable storage products for demanding industrial applications and security solutions for IoT applications for over 20 years.

In the IIoT environment, there has been an increase in reports regarding vulnerabilities such as security measures for the devices themselves, data leaks, tampering, and unauthorized operations. The Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities that shocked the world in 2018 raised concerns about the Management Engine (ME), making it clear that even ME, smart cards, and CPUs with management functions cannot be considered fully secure with merely supplementary security measures. While software updates can be deployed regularly in PC environments, the maintenance frequency for industrial and IIoT devices is low, which may expose them to risks without updates for extended periods. Swissbit has started offering "security storage" by integrating smart card functionality into NAND flash memory storage, allowing for a combination of replaceable hardware and cryptographic security to keep the security level of devices up to date at all times. With the middleware provided by Swissbit, secure integration of hardware, middleware, and security can be achieved without being constrained by the device-side interface. The security storage, which offers high security measures while also being easy to maintain, allows for selection from a range of products with different encryption and authentication methods tailored to specific purposes.
