Sections 1 to 4 serve as a preparatory part. After reviewing the most fundamental physics, we overview various basic concepts related to wettability to grasp the overall picture, introducing familiar examples and industrial cases. Next, we explain the foundational knowledge necessary for measurement. Based on past experiences, we focus on aspects that the author felt were particularly necessary. Furthermore, we provide basic knowledge regarding surfaces and interfaces that are essential for wettability evaluation. Sections 5 to 11 are the theoretical part. We explain concepts and mechanisms related to intermolecular forces, surface tension, surface free energy, and contact angles in detail from a physical perspective. Sections 12 to 15 are the measurement part. We explain practical measurement and analysis methods for contact angles, surface tension, and surface free energy, as well as points to be cautious about. Section 16 is the appendix. It provides detailed explanations centered around the derivation of relevant equations.
