Unstoppable battery fires. Chaos from semiconductor supply shortages. How can we identify poor-quality products and prevent recalls? Poor-quality products are not limited to batteries frequently covered by the media, but also include OEM products, semiconductors that are in short supply, and a wide range of connectors and cables that users prioritize for appearance and price. Suppliers of products need to thoroughly evaluate the components and materials used in their products to ensure quality. However, it is common for manufacturers to change parts and usage without notice, leading to defective products entering the market unnoticed, which can trigger product accidents. Key points to prevent recalls include: - Product evaluation and safety assessment at the time of adoption - Confirmation of supplier quality assurance systems at the time of adoption - Verification of sales through legitimate domestic channels - Regular checks for silent changes Eurofins FQL has been involved in product quality assurance for a long time. Leveraging that expertise, we offer services for safety evaluations of batteries, identification of poor-quality products, and factory audits from the perspective of managing upstream quality.

Damage to sewers, road bridges for vehicles, tunnels, and so on, has led to serious accidents due to the inability to keep up with the speed of maintenance and inspection in response to aging infrastructure. Obtaining chemically-based data, which tends to be overlooked in on-site inspections that often rely on a manpower strategy, is a shortcut to effective measures. Not only infrastructure such as roads, railways, water supply, communication, and public services, but also equipment, devices, and machinery operating in the market require appropriate maintenance and updates. Eurofins FQL assists in resolving concerns regarding equipment management and investment by quantitatively understanding the speed of equipment deterioration and the installation environment of the equipment. - We quantify the degree of deterioration of products and equipment operating in the market using measurement techniques and diagnose their remaining lifespan. We propose optimal methods centered around consulting. - We assess the extent of corrosive factors present in the operating environment of equipment, devices, and machinery in the market. By diagnosing the corrosive environment, we help resolve concerns regarding equipment management and investment.

The European Union (EU) is implementing new regulations on December 28, 2024, to standardize the charging ports of electronic devices to USB Type-C. This USB Type-C offers many advantages, such as fast transfer speeds, a reversible design that enhances user convenience, and high-output power delivery capabilities, making it a powerful and speedy charging cable. The structure of the USB-C connector features 24 pins densely arranged in relation to the limited surface area of the power supply side, and USB-PD compatible with USB Type-C can support power delivery of up to 100W with a single cable. As a necessity, the risk of accidents in the market increases. - The connection can loosen due to insertion and removal, making it prone to short circuits when inserted at an angle. - Foreign substances can adhere, leading to tracking phenomena. - Usage in environments containing sweat, saltwater, and salt. Eurofins FQL offers product quality evaluations, long-term reliability assessments according to standards, and failure analysis. We also conduct evaluation tests focusing on environmental resistance (temperature and humidity, gas, saltwater), mechanical performance, physical performance, and electrical performance. We are here to help ensure thorough evaluation of products to prevent accidents before they occur. Please feel free to consult with us.

The spread of 5G communication, the electrification of the automotive industry, the intensification of US-China trade friction represented by certain semiconductor manufacturers leading to supply stoppages, and the rapid increase in digital products due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are various social phenomena that are increasing the demand for semiconductors. Along with these developments, the acceleration of semiconductor supply risks is progressing. In addition to the adoption of new products, evaluation of existing and distributed products is also necessary... However, the personnel involved in new adoption and product evaluation are limited. Do you have any of these concerns? - Lack of know-how to evaluate semiconductor components - Want to evaluate alternative products but lack personnel and equipment - Want to use stock items and market products but have concerns about reliability - Unable to determine whether the delivered semiconductor products are counterfeit or genuine At Eurofins FQL, we leverage our years of experience in component evaluation and failure analysis to provide not only semiconductor evaluations but also failure analysis services. Additionally, we offer evaluations of distributed products to assist in determining the authenticity of counterfeit, imitation, or long-term stored items. Please feel free to contact us.

Pogo pin connectors are essential components in today's technology industry, achieving excellent durability and stable electrical contact. However, this does not mean that market failures do not occur. To use them correctly and maximize their functionality, meticulous planning and precise engineering are required. They are widely used across various industries, including home appliances, automotive systems, medical devices, and aerospace technology, and further demand expansion is expected in the future. Therefore, learning from failure cases and implementing proper measures during the evaluation and design stages contributes to ensuring the reliability of the equipment. In this webinar, we will provide an excerpt from the "Failure Analysis Cases of Pogo Pins" presented by our company, Eurofins FQL, at the Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Symposium hosted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency on July 17, 2025, due to its popularity.

Are you casually adopting AC adapters just because they are cheap? AC adapters carry inherent risks of electric shock and smoke or fire hazards, and incidents of fires due to design flaws from choosing low-cost products have occurred. When accidents involving electric shock or smoke and fire occur, not only do they lead to significant costs for post-incident handling and recall responses, but they also result in a decline in brand image, which can severely impact management. Therefore, it is essential to eliminate defect risks at the adoption stage. In this webinar, we aim to provide insights for evaluation during the adoption process by introducing case studies of market failure analysis of AC adapters that our company has experienced over the past several decades. We explain the content as simply and clearly as possible, so even those without prior knowledge of AC adapters are welcome to attend.

The usage environment of electronic devices varies, and the impact of corrosion caused by various environmental factors tends to increase. The reliability and lifespan of electronic devices heavily depend on the environment in which they are used. Corrosive substances originating from hot springs, volcanoes, waste, and rivers can corrode electronic components, printed circuit board wiring, connector contacts, and switch contacts of electrical equipment, potentially leading to serious issues. This content is recommended for those who want to solve such challenges: • Does the atmosphere of the operating environment lead to failures in electronic devices? • I want to reduce the risk of failure in harsh environments such as hot springs and wastewater treatment plants. • I want to conduct environmental surveys in large factories with fewer personnel and man-hours. • I want to prolong the lifespan of aging infrastructure as much as possible. We will introduce our original corrosion environment diagnostic kit, Eco Checker II, as well as methods for diagnosing corrosion environments.

We will be exhibiting at the 54th Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Symposium. ■Content We will present a case study focusing on market failures that resulted from contact failure due to corrosion (dezincification) occurring inside pogo pins. Additionally, we conducted verification on new samples based on four key points extracted from FTA (corrosive substances, temperature/humidity, scratches (wear), and pinholes), and found that the presence of formate ions and sulfate ions, along with scratches (wear), significantly accelerated corrosion. We will estimate the contact failure mechanism derived from the verification results.
