The "spring-loaded seal" is a high-performance seal that combines a PTFE-based jacket with a corrosion-resistant metal spring. The PTFE jacket has excellent chemical resistance and a wide temperature range, and the metal spring accommodates deformation due to wear and shrinkage or expansion of the seal. 【Issues】 When installing the oil seal, the environment becomes harsher as the rotational speed increases, leading to problems such as short lifespan and high heat generation during high-speed motion. 【Improvements and Effects】 The metal ring lip seal and lip seal can be used at speeds exceeding 20 m/s. For applications with rotational speeds exceeding 3 MPa, we recommend using spring-loaded seals. Since the seal lip is primarily made of PTFE, it can be used in dry environments. 【Issues】 When installing a metal seal, a mirror finish of generally 0.4Rmax or higher is essential. This has led to problems such as the inability to reuse seals and the hassle of regrinding. 【Improvements and Effects】 The spring-loaded seal uses Teflon as the main sealing material and applies surface pressure using the elasticity of the spring. Therefore, it does not damage the hardware during installation. 【Issues】 The commonly used packing materials are primarily rubber such as Viton and HNBR, which are considered suitable for high-temperature applications. However, when temperatures exceed 200°C, as is often the case with SN cylinders, deterioration is unavoidable. In severe conditions, there have been reports of cases where packing replacement is necessary every 2 to 3 weeks. 【Improvements and Effects】 The spring-loaded seal combines PTFE, which excels in heat resistance, sliding, and extrusion resistance, with the high-temperature spring characteristics of 17-7PH, achieving sealing performance and long lifespan that were difficult with conventional packings.
