August 21 Webinar "Performance, Degradation, and Lifetime Evaluation of General-purpose Lithium-ion Batteries"
To assist new entrants to the industry, stakeholders who have recently begun research, as well as experienced researchers and planners, this presentation will thoroughly explain the fundamentals of lithium-ion secondary batteries (LIB), including basic property evaluation, understanding operating conditions, battery performance degradation and its mechanisms, evaluation methods for degradation and lifespan prediction, and securing battery performance. Special attention will be given to information obtained from charge-discharge curves, evaluation and analysis methods using response measurements of applied pulses and impedance measurements, all based on electrochemical methods. The presentation will also introduce the basic characteristics of LIBs commonly used in the market, the latest measurement and evaluation methods, and material development, clarifying the surrounding research trends. Additionally, new diagnostic and analytical evaluation methods for high-speed and high-precision inspection of multiple cells during shipping, operation, and reuse will be proposed. Evaluation methods for the issue of lithium plating in LIBs will also be introduced. After the lecture, questions related to the content will be answered to the best of our ability.
