India BIS Certification: Notice of Further Extension of the Renewal Deadline for Secondary Batteries Due to the Novel Coronavirus

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to everyone involved due to the nationwide lockdown in India resulting from the impact of the novel coronavirus.
We would like to inform you that BIS has issued a notification regarding the extension of the renewal deadline and the relaxation of the renewal deadline due to the current lockdown.
* In the document issued on March 27, the validity period of the old standard IS 16046:2015 for secondary batteries has been extended from the current September 30 to December 29. Consequently, the renewal deadline for the new standards IS 16046 (Part 1):2018 and IS 16046 (Part 2):2018 has also been set to December 29 of this year.
Relaxation of renewal deadlines due to the lockdown:
* In the document issued on March 30, it was stated that for registrations that reach their renewal deadline during the lockdown period and within 30 days after the lockdown ends, the start of the grace period will be extended by 30 days after the lockdown is lifted. Additionally, if the end of the grace period falls during the lockdown period or within 30 days after the lockdown ends, the end of the grace period will also be extended by 30 days after the lockdown is lifted.
