India BIS Certification: Switching power supplies (SMPS) have newly become subject to certification.

- Standalone switching power supplies (SMPS) with an output of 48V or less are subject to mandatory certification by the Indian Bureau of Standards (BIS) (Phase 4), and BIS registration will be mandatory from October 1, 2020.
- Applicable standard: IS 13252 Part 1:2010 (Reference standard IEC 60950-1:2005/AMD2:2013)
[Notes]
- BIS certification is required for switching power supplies used in IT equipment and AV equipment that are imported to India as standalone products.
- If the power supply is implemented in a device being imported to India, BIS certification as a power supply is not required if there is existing CB certification or UL certification.
- Even if the device is not subject to BIS certification, BIS certification is required for switching power supplies imported to India as standalone products.
