■Challenges
The company needed to upgrade its highly customized WMS module built on a legacy ERP backbone and implement a cutting-edge WMS that provides high-level functionality in a standard form without changes.
Based in Reykjavik, Iceland, the company provides both wholesale and logistics services, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution, to its parent company, the retail group Hagar. Hagar has a portfolio of retail and wholesale companies operating independently within Iceland. This group includes sports goods stores and department store franchises operating on behalf of retailers such as Debenhams, Zara, and TopShop, as well as three food retailers that receive logistics services from Aðföng. These include the low-cost, high-volume grocery chain Bonus, the hypermarket chain Hagkaup, which boasts a wide range of food and non-food items, and the 10-11 convenience stores.
