(Free) Instron WEB Seminar Series: Do you know the term component testing? ~ With Instron, you can test even large finished parts.

インストロンジャパンカンパニイリミテッド 日本支社
**Presenter:** Shimpei Yamashita, Instron Japan, Materials Testing Division **Seminar Summary:** When we think of a "three-point bending test," we usually imagine a test where a static compressive load is applied. By placing a specimen on a bending fixture and dropping a tap (impact rod) from a certain height to apply an impact, we can conduct a dynamic bending impact test. Furthermore, these tests can be performed not only on thin sheets and dumbbell specimens but also on components (finished parts), allowing for tests that are more suited to actual usage environments. This seminar will introduce the "three-point bending" and "component" impact tests. **Target Audience for the Seminar:** - Those considering testing not only thin sheets and dumbbell specimens but also large finished parts. - Individuals who are hearing the term "three-point bending impact test" for the first time. - Those who want to safely conduct impact tests on large specimens and observe the impact behavior. - Customers considering the Instron 9400 series and Bluehill Impact software.

Drop Weight Impact Testing Machine - Tensile Impact Test "9400 Series"

High-speed camera shooting is possible! A drop weight impact testing machine that easily synchronizes video and load signals.

The "9400 Series" is a drop weight impact testing machine that can be used not only for punching but also for compression, three-point bending, and tensile-tensile impact tests. As the use of thermoplastics, composites, and metal alloys as high-performance materials for weight reduction in automotive, aerospace, and defense applications increases, the need to streamline the product development process and confirm the consistency between simulations and test results is extremely important. The weight is adjusted to maintain a constant strain rate and speed as much as possible throughout the elongation of the specimen during the impact event. 【Features】 ■ Capable of measuring high strain rates at impact speeds of up to 22 m/s ■ Tensile impact fixture test temperature range: -50 to +120°C (standard piezo sensor) ■ Transparent panels are placed around the test area, allowing for high-speed camera recording ■ Easy synchronization of video and load signals ■ DIC analysis to evaluate the longitudinal strain of the specimen after impact in a tensile impact condition *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Drop Weight Impact Testing Machine - Post-Impact Compression (CAI) '9400 Series'

Measuring the residual strength of composite laminates after damage! Introducing the CAI test procedure!

The "Post-Impact Compression (CAI) Test" is a two-step test developed to evaluate the potential damage of composite laminate materials using test specimens. In the first step, a drop-weight impact testing machine is used to apply visible impact damage (BVID) to the test specimen. In the second step, a static universal material testing machine is used to conduct a compression test on the damaged specimen, measuring the residual strength of the composite laminate after sustaining impact damage. Instron's "drop-weight impact testing machine" is used for the development, fine-tuning, and validation of various material models. Please feel free to contact us if you need assistance. 【Features】 ■ Impact energy from 2J to 70J (and beyond) ■ Minimum mass: 1kg (specimen thickness: 4.0mm or less) ■ Safety enclosure to prevent carbon fiber dispersion ■ Specimens can be adjusted from -70℃ to +300℃ ■ Pneumatic double-strike prevention mechanism to prevent multiple impacts on the specimen *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

[Seminar] Legal Affairs of the Energy Storage Battery Project

  • NEW
  • SEMINAR_EVENT

[Instructor] Hiroto Hayashi, Attorney at Law, New York State, Mori Hamada & Matsumoto Law Firm, Foreign Law Joint Enterprise [Key Lecture Content] Recently, batteries are expected to serve as a balancing power source for the realization of renewable energy as a primary power source. Due to changes in the business environment brought about by market development and government support measures, opportunities in the battery business are expanding. For grid-connected batteries, there are multiple options for long-term decarbonization power source auctions, tolling models, and merchant models, and the points of project development vary depending on the offtake method. Additionally, with the spread of the FIP system, the installation of batteries alongside renewable energy generation facilities is also progressing. In this lecture, we will explain the systems related to batteries, as well as key points for contract creation and negotiation, and financing necessary to steadily advance projects. We will also outline the challenges and prospects for project development and project finance formation according to each offtake scheme.

[Seminar] Discovering Business Opportunities in Trade-On

  • NEW
  • SEMINAR_EVENT

[Lecturer] Hideo Yamada, Ph.D. Honorary Professor, Waseda University Visiting Professor, Business Breakthrough University Graduate School [Key Lecture Content] Companies face various trade-offs (dilemmas) such as quality vs. cost, inventory levels vs. service levels, and standardization vs. differentiation. Traditionally, companies have responded to trade-offs by (1) finding a balance or (2) prioritizing one over the other. However, this does not lead to fundamental solutions. In this lecture, I will propose a third method that is neither balancing nor prioritizing. Using case studies from over 50 Japanese companies, I will explain it in an easy-to-understand manner. If we can turn long-standing trade-offs into trade-ons (coexistence), business opportunities will arise. [Lecture Topics] 1. What is a trade-off? 2. Trade-offs between customers and companies 3. Trade-offs within companies 4. Trade-offs within customers 5. How to turn trade-offs into trade-ons 6. Steps for exploration 7. Q&A / Business card exchange
