The flowability of polymers cannot be predicted because it is "non-linear." This is also why the melt index (MI), which should be an indicator of flowability, often does not match the actual moldability. The more complex flow known as elongational viscosity is particularly difficult to predict accurately, and the only way to obtain reliable data is to measure it in the same range as the actual molding speed. ◎ A computer-controlled twin capillary rheometer with two measuring cylinders. ◎ No regular calibration work by the operator is required! ◎ Automatic calibration with a platinum sensor (high precision 0.01%, temperature stability 0.0003%/°C, long-term variation rate 0.001%/year). ◎ The barrel is divided into three zones, each independently controlled for temperature. The overall temperature uniformity of the barrel is excellent! ◎ The temperature control sensor is installed in a newly developed knuckle heater, very close to the center of the barrel. Various Innovations for High-Precision Measurement By setting a die with a different L/D ratio for the two measurement bores, viscosity measurements corrected for tube length can be achieved in one pass. Tube length correction contributes to improved measurement accuracy and reduced measurement time across a wide range of shear rates. The Rabinovich correction is used as the standard calculation. For flow within the die, the velocity distribution is automatically corrected to reduce measurement errors.

Evaluation of Processability by Extensional Viscosity The extensional viscosity in the velocity range of actual molding can be obtained. Extensional viscosity is a parameter sensitive to molecular structure and has a significant impact on fluidity. Reliable evaluation of processability is achieved through extensional viscosity at molding speeds. Extensional viscosity has a considerable influence on various flow fields, such as the fluidity in narrow runner sections, dimensional stability in inflation molding, drawdown behavior in hollow molding, and dimensional stability in casting.

A touch panel that consolidates functions. The up and down movement of the piston and temperature settings can also be operated from the main unit's touch panel. Automatic temperature increase to the measured temperature using a weekly timer is also possible.
