For increasing production volume, optimizing operations, scale-up design, cost reduction, energy saving, etc.!
<gPROMS FormulatedProducts Crystallization Process Library> It can be used for various considerations and decision-making in production volume enhancement, operational improvement, and process optimization. To build efficient procedures (recipes) in the crystallization process, we will efficiently carry out operations in the following flow and achieve these within a short period (approximately 1 to 2 months). Modeling → Experiment → Model Verification (Parameter Estimation, Validation) → Process Optimization Consideration → Scale-Up Consideration The ability to automatically perform parameter estimation with the tool is a significant factor in reducing the consideration period. Additionally, since it is a kinetic model (expressing mechanisms in mathematical formulas), the number of parameters is kept to a necessary minimum. Furthermore, tools that automatically optimize cooling temperature reduction methods and patterns, the amount and timing of seed crystals, evaporation rates, and heating patterns are powerful, and scale-up may be conducted in conjunction with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations when necessary.

basic information
1. Based on the population balance model, the particle size distribution (PSD) of crystals can be predicted. The effects of generation, growth, and disappearance can be expressed through processes such as primary nucleation, addition of seed crystals, and secondary nucleation. 2. The model accommodates various operating modes (batch, semi-batch, continuous), single-stage or multi-stage, as well as diverse crystallization formats (internal circulation, DT: draft tube, FC: external circulation, DTB: draft tube-baffle, etc.). 3. Parameters identified based on experimental results can be applied to production-scale equipment. This has been validated, including the ability to apply parameters obtained from batch experiments to continuous implementation devices. 4. Physical property packages such as OLI and Multiflash are available through the standard interface of gPROMS. Additionally, it is also possible to link and use individual physical property packages currently in use.

Company information
Founded in 1997 by the gPROMS development team at Imperial College London, PSE became part of the Siemens Group in 2019 and has been providing products and services in Japan as Siemens Corporation since 2023. gPROMS features a powerful equation-based computation engine that differs from traditional simulators, allowing for seamless handling of both steady-state and dynamic simulations. This enables the effective scaling up of models adjusted with experimental data from batch processing for the design and operational optimization of continuous processing plants. With gPROMS's excellent capabilities in custom modeling, parameter estimation, and optimization, it is possible to quickly build optimal manufacturing processes, resolve issues, and achieve optimization.
