In a glove box, proper environmental management during standby (when not in use) is essential for controlling the atmosphere of oxygen and moisture. This is because the glove box is susceptible to changes in room temperature at its installation site, which can cause fluctuations in pressure inside the glove box. When the temperature drops, it can lead to a decrease in pressure, causing the gloves to be pushed inward. Simultaneously, oxygen and moisture can permeate into the glove box. To maintain the appropriate conditions inside the glove box during standby, it is necessary to keep the internal pressure consistently on the pressurized side. For this purpose, it is essential to have an automatic internal pressure adjustment function (which we refer to as AGC). Glove boxes that lack this function incur additional effort and costs for atmosphere control each time, making them very inconvenient. Until now, the only option for an automatic internal pressure adjuster for glove boxes was to choose an expensive model with a touch panel. Therefore, as UNICO, which has led the personal glove box style for over 25 years, we felt it was imperative to develop a low-cost, high-spec automatic internal pressure adjuster and have brought it to market.

Currently, it is quite common for glove boxes sold domestically to come standard with a foot switch type internal pressure regulator. However, at UNICO, this AGC (Automatic Internal Pressure Regulator) is also included as standard in the UL series of atmospheric pressure glove boxes. (Note: UL-650A is an option.) In atmospheric (flow) type glove boxes without the automatic internal pressure adjustment feature, when performing gas replacement, it is necessary to stand in front of the glove box and monitor the situation throughout the gas replacement process. However, with UNICO's atmospheric pressure glove boxes, by combining them with a dew point meter or an oxygen concentration meter, you only need to press one button on the AGC, and the gas replacement will be carried out automatically. This difference is often realized only after purchasing the glove box. Without such information, if you purchase a glove box that lacks the automatic internal pressure adjustment feature simply because it is cheaper or has a slightly faster delivery time (which is a sign of being idle despite being a specialized manufacturer), you will almost certainly regret it. If you are going to introduce a glove box, I strongly recommend selecting a specialized manufacturer that at least offers options for system upgrades later on.
